Charles Bean, also identified as C.E.W Bean, is best known for his work on the establishment of the Australian War Memorial and for writing the Official History of the First World War.
Whilst appointed as the official war correspondent during the First World War, Bean filled hundreds of diaries and notebooks sharing firsthand accounts of the war.
Encompassing 286 volumes of personal diaries, notebooks and folders, this large and valuable collection is now being made available for transcription.
