I feel the greatest pleasure in promulgating to all the troops of the Corpe, and to those Arms and Services which co-operated, the messages of congratulation received by me. I wish also on my own behalf, to exprese my heartiest apprecia¬ tion and thanks to all Commanders, Staffs, and Troops who took part in thie day's brilliant victory. Their fine suocess was due as much to the fine spirit of co-operation which animated all concerned, as to the gallantry of the troope. The operation is a striking examole of the success which invariably results from careful preparation and co-ordinated action: and will serve as a model and standard of the fighting efficiency of the Auetralian Corpe. On behalf of the Artillery, Engineers and Infantry of the Corps I desire to convey our thanks to the Royal Air Force, Tank Corps, and the Special Brigade R.E. for their most valuable aseistance; and especially to the United States Infantry whose participation for the first time in battle, shoulder to shoulder, with Australians, has made of this day an occasion of rare historic significance.
