My dear General, Although the date of the proposed operation was yesterday tentatively fixed for July 2nd, I should be glad if you could agree to July 4th being named as the date.- On going more minutely into the details of preparation with MACLAGAN, COURAGE and others, I think that, from every point of view, it would be desirable to have the two extra days for preparationg and training. Also it would enable me to give MACLAGAN precisely those Units which he prefers to have, which I think would be best suited for the operation. Reseuer and subject, Ist prize 40 francs; 2nd, 20 francs: 23 yards out and 25 yards back.--Rules: 1. Subjeet must remain inactive and give no assistance to the rescuer. 2. Method to be adopted. I have under me four Press organizations:- British Press (0. i/c, Captain C.R.CADGE). 1) i/c, Capt. R.E. de TRAFFORD). Allied Press (0. i/c, Capt. E.X.KAPP! Neutral Press(O. Cinematography & Photography (4) (0. i/c, Lieut. BARTHOLOMEW). I give leave to the above named officers to arrange interviews direct with Corps in order to save time, as all press matters are invariably a race for time. During active operations, our habit has been in the past, to warn Armies that the regular Accredited Correspondents mostly British) are visiting their front, after which the correspondents in charge of an officer, visit the staffs of For Corps, etc., with the view of getting the latest situation. all special visits by distinguished foreigners etc., I will give you due notice and warning. Dear General:-

Thank you very much for your letter of 21/6/18.

I am so glad to hear that you do not mind my sending

Press Representative to you from time to time. I have under

me four Press organisations :-

(1)     British Press (C. i/c, Captain C.R.CADGE).

(2)    Allied Press (C. i/c, Capt. R.E. de TRAFFORD).

(3)    Neutral Press (C. i/c, Capt. E.K.KAPP).

(4)    Cinematography & Photography

          (C. ic/ Lieut. BARTHOLOMEW).

I give leave to the above named officers to arrange

press matters are invariably a race for time.
