11TH AUSTRALIAN INFANTRY BRIGADE.
Headquarters,
23rd July, 1917.
Major-General J, MONASH, C.B, V.D.
In order to clear up the matter mentioned
in the communication from Corps forwarded under your letter
of the 20th instant, I had a surprise Officer’s picquet
sent to DRANOUTRE on the evening of the 22nd instant,
This party found two men of the 43rd
Battalion who were there without passes, and these are being
dealt with. The fact that there were no others in the
town seems to definitely prove that the large number of
Australians spoken about were not members of this Brigade.
