My Dear Donnally
Regards our reinforcements: -
Étaples have been given a hard and

fast rule that every man shall be
put through a training course before
being sent forward, no matter what
his history may be.
The Courses are in the hands of
British Instructors who exact a polished
efficiency.
I would like to keep the flow of
reinforcements for this Division steady,
and certainly to get back at the
earliest possible moment all specialists

who may find their way to
Étaples, irrespective of any Courses
being passed there.
I am satisfied that the best finish
to the education which an Australian
has had in England will be given
by men who understand him; with
the Division for which he is destined.
The G.O.C at Etaples and the
O.C Reinforcements agree with this
in our case, and say that the sole
instrument to put the machinery in
motion is the D.A.G 3rd Echelon, who
you represent in dealing with us.
Will you give the movement
order for reinforcements required,
as shown on the weekly B213, for
troops to be sent forward, in driblets,
say a complete number for the Brigade
in Reserve - at present the 9th;
and for those in the line not more
than 50 for each on any one day.
