Commanding Officers
A number of Officers are still to be seen (parading
with troops) with Sam Brown Belts, instead of Web Equipment.
It can hardly be that officers would deliberately
disobey such an order- even though it be a distasteful one-
and it is thought that they are erring through ignorance of
the order.
In order to ensure that there shall be no excuse in
future, the officers of each battalion are to countersign this
memo at foot hereof, and the memo is to be returned to Brigade
Office.

Although rather gruesome, these
papers, which are merely typical
of the daily experiences of war, will
give some small idea of the enormous

difficulties associated with
the framing & transmission of reliable
information about Casualties. - The
papers may interest folk at home, &

may make them less impatient at the
lack information from the front -
