Conference of C.O's
1. 300 of 17th Bn with due proportion of officers to report at
once to Lt Col Pope - He will (a) arrange guidance
(b) pull out 300 of his own men
(c) put in 300 of 17th
(d) arrange instruction &c for 17th
periscopes, peri rifles, bombs &c &c
2. Major Margolin with 300 of 16th Bn & proportion of officers to
relieve tonight, as early as possible, the force under Major Herring.
Lt Col Tilney to supervise the interchange:-
(a) Receive the men from Lt Col. Pope - ?250 & 50
(b) Arrange guidance to Herring
(c) Arrange for Herring & 1 officer of 14th to stay there overnight
to help Margolin (Capt Locke. Dr Munro at Tilney's disposal)
Lt Col Pope to convey orders to Margolin .-
(a) to improve position now held .-
(b) to rapidly dig towards N.Z. trenches - & get touch
over gap of 150 yds.
3. At or after 11a.m. tomorrow, Margolin ^(till then under Russel) passes under orders
of Lt Col Agnew for tactics, & under 4th Bde for
administration. / Re 16th Bn later.
4. Lt Col Cannan & 15th to complete sap &c across Creek.-
5. Tomorrow - large balance of 17th coming over, & position is
put in to relieve posts 2, 3, 4 - & a general
redistribution.
6. At 3 tomorrow each 13, 14 & 15 to find:-
4 experienced bombers. } 8 x 4 = 32 to teach
4 other good steady old hands. } 18th
(Eastwood to arrange) 1 Sgt 1 Cpl.
7. x 13th & 14th alert to repel Counter attack on Herring [[/ar?]]
8. Lt Col. Cannan & wire up Creek - (Locke to see re Russel)
