50 VICTORIA BARRACKS, MELBOURNE, 13th November, 1914. Dear Major Robertson, I have been told that you would not be averse from buying a suitable horse as officer's charger, if the officer concerned preferred it to another. Now, I happen to know a horse which suits me down to the ground. For five or six years past, I have been in the habit of hiring the same charger from James Carton & Sons, Lonsdale Street, Melbourne, and have always found her most satisfactory. She is a bay mare, aged, no visible brande, abeut 15.2 bande high, with large white star, streak and snip, strong, well up to my weight, very docile but active, and with easy paces. Her name is Lurline. I have ascertained that the mare is valued at £25, but I think that, owing to my long friendship with Mr. Charles Garton, he might let me have her for 220. The mare can be inspected any day at Garton's Stables by giving them 24 hours notice to have her in for inspeetion. I believe she is in every way sound, and if an inspection proves this to be the case, I am sure she would suit me down to the ground. Kindly let me know what you think. Yours faithfully, Major W. St.L. Robertson, Director of Remounts.
