later were very
unsatisfactory. The
red & green lights
seldom went off together.
(tho’ it shd have bn
2 red stars & 2 green
stars in / same rocket).
First one green ws reported.
by the observer on Bn H.Q.
Then another green; then
red; (Durrant wondered
-very anxious - can
this be our S.O.S.) then
at last came down "S.O.S."
& the barrage ws on in
30 seconds.
Surely our chemists

I am enclosing a few
verses. by name ‘Gone West’
I have often heard this
expression used, especially by our
men when they have lost some
particularly. good pal. Under
such circumstances these two
words have a wonderful depth a
feeling
I trust you will find
my effort suitable for inclusion
in your paper.
