ws the only good scrap.
A German HQrs. (Coy)
ws there & a dressing
Stn. The S.Bs & the platoon
in reserve put up a great
scrap with 2 heavy guns.
Lynas put up a signal
for a tank but at /
same moment somebody
threw a phosphorus
bomb into / dugout &
all / Germs were k.
Pear trench ws so badly
sited that tho' the 16th raided
it & aftwds crept by daylight
thro / crop & sat in his wire

The battalions dug
in by daylight & were
not interfered w by
German sniping. The
tanks stopped for an
hour after the objve
ws gained & did great
work.

Also the C.S.M of C.Coy Sergt
Blinman. Woods also was
once CSM of C Coy - &
they were all buried in /
same grave.

Linus did very good work
a piece caught him in /
hand just before / barrage
started & 2 pieces in
the back one of wh cut
his braces. He wdnt
go back. He had the left
Coy, joining 15 Bn.
The raid which he led ws
on June 15/16 on the Pear trench.
He got a 2nd bar to his M.C. for
it.
At Hebuterne Ahearne & Aarons
made the attack on the
