The Germans got into O.G.2
over top.  A post wh ws first
rushed gave notice of this
[2 k. rest. ran back - just
E of Central C.T.  Diagram - see original document]
About 30 men were
xx collected & charged over
top & the Germans got up
& ran back - When
they dropped into the trench
(O.G.2) our men lined
a slight ridge or set of
Craters between O.G.1 & 2
& some in front of O.G.2
Diagram - see original document
There they held Germans for
3 hours by wh time Londoners
had come up & were
holding trench at L — L.

This freed abt 20 or 30
more men for a c-attack.
Wh ws made up O.G.2
abt 8 a.m.  This c.attack
with the c.attack up C.Sap.
drove Germans out.
Germans had a first
aid post & bombs live
in the part of Hindenberg
trench between our bomb stop
& theirs.  Col. Midgley took
Col. Hearne & myself out
there to see it - a Lewis
gunner covering us after
we got through our wire.
