36 52 Cogs. CCoy under Cherry were hard fight in Ivillage. They first met trouble at the Entrance of village at the truch described before, from mys. & Hamilton MC at severely wd. &H Corner near the byg crater in the village corour had be wd in the BBn at Hill 60 in Callepoli. He ws sent to a cadit training Bor & this wshis first fight & he ws v. keen. Cherry used to say to he ad be all right
There were few 18pdrs behind them & they noticed the by proporte of heavies to Bodis 54 They had gone nearly 10o0ydst befor Willize. They went straight at the two moss. Early in 1 fight Cherry came across a ferman off who surrendered, +as Cherry walker forwd, he brought his hands down quickly & shot cherry to a resolver he had had in his hands concealed. Cherry shot him. Herry we only slightly wd. After the Cattack Stapleton wanted C. Dcomet get this wound borns up at the R.A.B He wdnt. He we K. abt half an hour afternoos.

57 The village ws grad? cleared tho suypay went on for some time. When Cherry got thio' the village, & Murphy of I cay ws following it rear, Murphy nopped up te village of sayers. developing & hid the gear
in a shell hole. He
ws shortly afterwds wd. &
noone else knew where
it ws.  3 or 4 days later
it ws found by his directn
& sent on to G.H.Q.
Lloyd rang C.O. up
when wd & told him
that "there ws a - 1000
of the Germans coming on."
This ws confirmed by
Cherry later.
The posts beyond / 
village were now
pretty well estab by A & B

w a revolver he had had

Cherry shot him. Cherry

the C-attack Stapleton
wanted C. to come &
get this wound bound
up at the R.A.P.
He wdnt. He ws K. abt

of snipers. He had
several small fights.
