the pineapples.
We put up again a
big barrage of rifle grenades
& bombs. This time Germs
weakened & we rushed
as far as C.T. at pt 60 19.
There were a lot of Germ.
dead in the trench, &
a doctor & 6 men in one
dugout - he ws k. by
a bomb rolling down.∧ a sentry ws left. The
6 men came up & were
taken prisoner.
A lot of Germs made
down the C.T. 60 - 63 19 into
their O.G.2.
H. sent a party of
riflemen down this C.T
& they placed a post here

The Germs were running
now - over top & along
C.T. There were only
a few bombs fell into
next stretch of trench.
We took the next lot
of trench - easily - Germs
probly saw Gordons coming
in their attack-
[We had passed the an M.G. positnat 28 B 3½ 9½ - The breech
block of gun ws lying there,
& amnunitn, but gun
ws gone.] In a dugout
farther down, wh Scots
bombed & burnt, the
gun & some men were
aftwds found. There
were 50 rifles in / trench.
We had reached past C.T. 28 B 2½ 9½
(abt )when, as we were

Scottish officer ws seen
standing up on / parapet
abt 4 traverses down.
He got up & saw him
there - & then went
along trench to meet him.Germ Scots recognised the
bombs- & were chased abt
2 traverses down.
H. ws looking out for to
meet them abt the C.T. at ∧ 28 B 5.9ax pt 19.so he but it ws the
Devons they expected to see.
Capt. Gordon went out
with Sergt & 3 or 4 men. All
were k. except one man
who ws wd. They went
out as soon as they got
into the trench & were hit

heavy. Ours heavy &
field guns.
