Sister Scanlan ^R.R.C. of the British service QAIMNS. (a Western Austrn) had
many trips to / gulf with the temp°. 124 - 130 on board. 
One heatstroke (who died) had a temp° of 113 for 3 days! On the "Dongola"
She had to zig zag for fresh air - ran out of ice.

H.S. Takada. July 1917 Larkin sent to H.S. to
Persian Gulf. Monsoon at worst & heat
awful. Waited below Shat El Arab bar
(for HS Erinpura.) Matron, 4 trained Sisters
2 VADs. 500 heat strokes - temps to 110
- as high as therms. wd regr.
Matron a Briton - took worst cs
on deck - worked till mn. ^Slept in her clothes &
then up at 3a.m. helping night Sister to sponge.
On deck barometer 120°. Took 7
days not 5 to get out of Gulf as Engrs down
w heat stroke. Inds wdnt get well. Birt
often Mental after. Got sig. from anor Ship
& took on a v. bad case of heat Stroke one
of their Engrs.

Vita. Sept 1917.^Miss Horne left Bombay in/c of Vita w 4 ns & 25 orderlies for
Basra - V. busy coming home - chiefly heat strokes
Ship beautifuly equipped.
Left in Oct u/c of Sicilia for Barra  bring
back 400 tps from Mespot. In December HS Delta. Bombay
to Suez. 8 Sisters (5 AANS 3 Ind. trained) 60 orderlies.
Took on a labour Corps. Good patients but v. dirty

LF Fletcher. Aft 2 yrs at Deccan Hospl.

sent for to Volr for Hosp Ship for
Vladivostok. Fletcher chosen to go
in/c w 6 friends of hospl staff. Caught
flu - & 3 of staff had to be changed.
Dilwara - for Hong K. left 28 Sept 1918
300 tps on bd - Soon got flu- Ns vold. Only
hospl accdn for 8. Pats on deck. Got rid of some
at Colombo 1st got some Pys. per  Q Alexandria Sewing

guild. Rain. Pats had to go to bottom o /
ship - by portholes, 1 died. 80 landed at
Singapore -(4 died there later)
Sisters V. kindly recd at Hong Kong hospl.
Vold to work to give / sisters leave. 3 wks

marrd at Vancouver - So staff red to 4
Left w 20 Can. Offrs. 17 Russian
nurses, Russian Surg Gen. (15 June 1919)
Called at N of Japan in midwinter to coal
reached Vladiv. 13° below zero,
ice breaking ship going rd harbour -
Bitterly cold. 4 m to town from wharf
Cans. wanted ship to send their
tps to Can. Imperials wanted it to send
500 Czecho-Slovaks & Midsx Rgt home.
Imperials won.
Staff incrd- An Au. Sister & 2 Am. VADs
in/c of Czechs and went w them to Prague

First go to Eygpt by Karoola in July 1916
arriving in thick woollen frocks w long silk
capes & big grey velvet bonnets
In July 1916 - ^50 to India to diff hospls. Nobbs to Lahore
for 2 months ( 3 cs of heatstroke with 110° temp)
all cured in few
weeks quite sensible. Then Sialkote (4 sisters 3 of them
Austln)- mule cart to travel in till mules & cart
ran away - then bhils (bullocks) 2wce as long but sure
of arriving. After 6 m. in India came to Engld by Mooltan.
Arrd in snow in panama hats.
