Clifford's Message.
Being hard pressed
enemy bombing up on Beach
from both ends. Strong point in our
left rear has not been cleared
as they are sniping from our rear.
(point 12 DEWB). Trench
half full 4 wounded and dead.
cant set back. can a party
be organised to clear strong point.
not it [[?]] go hard with us
I only have about 30 men with me.
No sign of a commn
trench to us from farm as yet.
Lost race of 52nd. Believe
we have got tro far.

East ward on 600
yds front on right
of 13 Bn & dug in
in places within 60 yds
of enemys positn. Notably
L.G Stay on for 14 hrs
& came in by broad
daylight. Lost abt
300 in this.
Bn has lost 85 o men
to date.
At Mouquet Farm
sent has out 13 offrs
& only [[Farnell?]] came
back & he wounded.

9 are known to have
bn killed outright.
There were a Sergt & 30
men out of 2 platoons
in the sideways attack
of 52nd - I think
all these were blown
out.
