In Ineorning, while SBll Ws in 1 Sunken Rd & H Bde ws finishing its fight, the a brigade of 18 pdrs, R.H.A. galloped up into action on the reverse side of a simple about 5oyds in tront Frly on I top of hill above Luc wood. by 7an their guus up there & waited to support the 2pon. attack. They were under direct observation & w.C. fire there. They came in very finely & were ready to support I troops as they moved over Froissy Beacon. These juns waited until 4pon to open up. when they spened then I fera get
onto them immediately with arty - until he was cleared of Troisey Beacon by 116n. The cirty came down at 4 pm. The 1Bn had to support 112 Bn Kro hengnolles until they reached fer stope below Garanne ermaine wood & then turn NW & work along 1 stope of hill towds Iriow so as to clear1 way for 9Bn pancaly Dh ws on the lefseator. In the fally we a rlyyard full of small blogs + stacks materiel of timber, w many m.9. nests. One ofo took 3oferms & 2 mgs. out of one of huts in 1 valley dexis There were a number o

the line where (1Bn w holding at Troissy Beacon. In the morning Maf. Phelleps going up, as 11 Bo ws f in same posite as 912, withdn the 11th to take up the further task wh it ws then sel. These two Coys very much depleted were now withdrown tot a support posito close under the brow of hill a little S.W. of Troiss Beacon. (Angry). Orders now came out for the 10 Bn Stunt. Owere to pass through the 9 Thisday a minelaid by firmswutup. He had a 77s shell in Ivalle dump of
Gth Bn had its aid post abt 1yds from the dump of shells on a ferman los but. Durny 1 day 1 ferman shell dump blew up with a mine & 6 men in the YBn aid post & 2horses were kiled. (The Coal & 150y away dump has on seton fire by our banage. The valley was a warm place all day From here on Maj. Phillips acct. -actin C.O at time On Aug 24 May Khellips we ordered to get in touch W Col. Neligan & Cooperati to him in advancing 10Bn & 11 Bn advancing his 9Bn & 12 Bn. fers ws fixed at 9 8P.m. This ws done without incident except to 1prisoners were brought in Inight Ds To dark & rainy to they had lost their way. A hot meet as taken up & served to troops in 1 pont line at 12.30 Pm. There as no rum, + 2 cases of whiskey were sent on 24 ap by C.O. From 2 amull 12.30 next night they had be Morny + Tcrappin & were very tired
The line of 12Bn ran our side of Olympia wood on but not far away from it Abt 2.30 am. C. Coy 1Bn. (H Graham) while reconnoiting in port of line came on a mg. post in a trench. He had I men as t heme. He finished e w bombs & bombed up 700yds of trench running due E.& W. all our bombs had nen out & they need ferman Stick bombs for doing this. A bourt stop ws putin & a postmade + 1 trench held. Graham got a bar to his M.C. for this endividual effert). At 10.30 am. an advance of whole line we made, over top & went onod 3500 yds finisheng at 12.30 nova. This
advance us in conjuncte with 10 Bo wh had bn postponed. The dispositus were BCoy on 1st B noorie Ema L Charles Egrahem D Coy ws in support. They were cut abt be m.J. fire (wh ws wade by oversfire & 77s. The advance, as held up by heavy my. fire from 1 saper factory near Dompierre Bw.o1 vilage) & a m.g. post west of Dompierre. Artiller, suppt ws called for & after 2 rounds were fired on 1 Lugas Facton Abt 30 ferms w mgs - were seen to run out of Factory tood Dompierre. (They evidently cut across 1rd into a truck there)
Atter a meal the advance as continued till finally held up by m.F. fire from A 3 &C L41737 1 241 SC 42 We they put down arty fire on &C. We t worked out to XV2 voryeing Listening posts 5rh were put out to orders came for Irelief this night & the treach us consolidated so th it cdbe handed over

9th Bn had its aid
post abt 150 10 yds from the
dump of shells in a German
log hut. During / day /
German shell dump blew up
with a mine & 6 men in
the 9 Bn aid post & 2 horses
were killed. (The Coal x
dump ^150 yds away had bn set on fire
by our barrage. The valley was
a warm place all day).

ws ordered to get in touch
w Col. Neligan & cooperate
w him in advancing -
10 Bn & 11 Bn advancing thro

At 10.30 p.m. an
order came from Bde cancelling
the attack w instrns to

This ws done without incident
except tt 10 prisoners were
brought in - / night ws so
dark & rainy tt they had
lost their way. A hot meal
ws taken up & served to /
troops in / front line at 12.30
p.m. There as no rum, &

up by C.O. From 2 a.m. ^on 24th till
12.30 next night they had bn
moving & scrapping & were
very tired.
