Meeting this barrage Coys were dis organised to some extent but fortunaty they gt thro in time for attack of Gero. Capt N.G. Armstran 1 D C.H. Ryan were I first to oto attack Closed followed by 1 left tind sappt Coy in/c of Mapt L. H. Farmer. Thy got over Foissy Deacon in one bound dug in out line allotte to ABn. our t barrage ws very good they were able to keep up it. CR.H.A.J From there on it became
an individual operation H.l had directed to no one ws to worry abt his Planks. The Bn consold. the other for night side of Noissy & restr pending andr advance. Instrs were recd from Bde it I whole line wd advance & capture Olypisia Wood & earls wood. This we on Aug 24. This ws to be at 4 p.m. In meantime germans had strengthi their positus & ot their arty settled. The Coy Commdrs misunderstood the difficulties of attack & two of them reported to Blek it ws an impossible teat,
owing to ot flankof Grd Division being well in rear. (They were not men of gt experience). The attact as then postpoud till aug 25. & these two Of were reheved of Commans. At 3 pm Aug 25. the whole ling advanced. Tympia Wd we Captd. One Coy on I left under tS.G. King took Cppy & dug in on 1 outskirts to East. This operaty resulted in 1 Capture of 5 - 77 & many myss. This day to official Photographer Capt for Wilkins ws

They were then warned for an attack at v. sort notice & shifted to Tincourt Rester at Tincourt & practiced - the attack ben postponed once or toice. Froissy Beacon attack
Aug 23.
After Lihons Bn ws
put back in Vaire for 6 days.
They were then ordered up to

over fairly familiar ground,

Spent rest o / day & next day
resting.
Moved off at 10 pm.  Night
of Aug 22 in support of 1st Bde -

Germaine's Wood.  Bn
reached this ½ hr before 1st
Bde started from their J.O.T.
The 9 Bn had no casualties
but / Germans put a straf
down on St G's Wood & the
other Bns lost a good deal.
9 Bn ws to pass thro 1st
Bde after 3rd objve taken & go
on to an unlimited objve.  In
consequence liaison ws maintained
betw 9 Bn & / 2 & 3 Bns.
