C Coy 12 Bn was on the Sunken
Rd running down from / hill
W of Bois d'Olympia into Cappy.
on their left ws Capt Tullochs
Coy of 11 Bn. Other coys
were on rt up the C.Ts as
above.
They rested tt night &
10 Bn went thro. They The Germs had
put down a heavy smoke
barrage and under cover of it

at abt dust they withdrew
their m.g. posts. The
Germs were firing off their
dumps during the night.
Next morning our men
abn 12 Bn were moving out
over the ground where they
had fought - where their
mates lay - scarcely credible
to them.
11 Bn Proyart
Capt Tulloch 11 Bn. D Coy
met a pty of 1st Bde wh
were exploiting towards Froissy
on Aug 23. & hadnt heard o
the barrage.
D Coy Stayed the night

next day - moved
across the crest on the
left and put into Olympia
wood , connecting with
Sellick's Coy on their right

12 Bn. this day.
There ws v. heavy mg fire
met Tullochs Coy this day
and very accurate m.g fire
at 700 & 900 yds. In
/ evg / Germs put down a
smoke and sneezing gas
barrage & cleared of tt
hill practically altogether.
D Coy was then instrd to
dig a series of posts
well out towards the SW
of Bois Coinda Verges. There
they set a delayed message

tt 10 Ben wd attack under
a barrage wh wd have
fallen right into their posts
(11 Bn). Another message
immediately after ws tt 9 Bn
were behind them and they wd go
round to rt & support
Grahams Coy who ws going
on with 10Bn (on its rt).
The men were brought
back in / rain , & given
hot food. Then came a
further message tt /
attack was postponed
to 7 am (?) They dug
in in a trench in front
of Garenne wood - They
moved out men to get truck
w Graham & at last found

them up in/ brick works
having completed their
work without an attack.
(They had bombed along).
That night 11 Bn was met by 6 Bde.
