They had horses conseale among1 trees of road. T wod limber up o retire 1000 y0s & open ap afain. of A Coy Cugh weve (o Bde) The tigunners knocked out 1 horsen
of one gan at att 1000 yds & it ws be abondoved on the road. There ws only intermettint firing from righs on main S. Rd. Jers cd be seem going back in LS & Vs. Also batteries in 1 distance ed be seen limbering up - especially from et port, & clearing out. a motor cd also be seen workin along Ird S of Harbounceres
66 dragging its balloon stik in air. Te advance was a good stiff walks pace to whole way. Ten were not allowed to stand abt deponts or sick up thens - tey had 6 go on. (Div. Comonde sd to 31Bm ws 1 on Phee Line). Nex resistance came when the reached the rly junctionat W 4 centrel.
This is slightly broken ground - (where we found 29 Bm same night). When they reached this they got fire from the bush on edge of the Moicourt- Harbourg vallyy & from te high ground on 1 far side where there were tents a hats The fire as heavy + t hiv we Leto for a time. The tank worket about the bushes from the right &
Sections with L.go were sent ahead to clear I wooded sides of valley. Te 30 Bn were held up by I same full at Ashwell wood. The 315t went ahend & got Buchanan wood. The 315t bol the S. Edge of this gully - there were thts of Germans further N- Ennay arount likerabbits. A L.G. was firmyg on the Ba from the main Rd mar the hospital.
here ws at much resistance in this part. E.W. ood 20 & 35 along the rd tho' W 6 A. The Co. called a temporary halton the main road in W 6'A& C. & sent ford patrols towds Blueling to see if it wt held. Having little resistance he in formed 30 Bn Major to he ws going to take Blue ling without waiting for Blue tanks
He men were abready in these tanks- gu, Lguns & teams) but trese tanks had not appeared yet as 3Bn ws ahead of time. Lookin back from high ground near Buchanan wood C.C. cd see Col Freeman cavalry coming along the Bayonvillers Harb. road - & the armound care racing at a geat rate along
74 the main St Quentin Rd. 59 Bn had not yet appeared thro Harbonnieres - + A Coy of 31 who had then moved a head of 15 Bde rejoined 3 Bn & extended line into 15 Bde Sector as faras Harb. Station. I ws abt or 11 when they got tof Ster The 31Bo ws in the Blue line trenches by 11 a.m. From abt Red Line 3004 armouna cars were seen going along n to Ftl
& some probl abt 10. am. The cavalry went thoo A boy att shoott attr 3Bm ws in Blue Lave tho a few scouts were to before. At 10.30 just as It ws passon Red live aa aeroplane knocked out the train carrying 12in gan wh had be firing till then at X 134.7. The first to ws seen of train we to it ws stanng up & down this bit of line

from near the Harbonnieres Rd. They
had horses concealed among the trees
o the road.  They wd limber up &
retire 1000 yds & open up again.
The L. gunners ^of A Coy (wh ws w 15 Bde) knocked out the horses

There ws only intermittent
firing from rifles on main St Q. Rd
- Germans cd be seen going back in
4s & 5s.  Also batteries in the distance
cd be seen limbering up - Especially
from rt front, & clearing out.
A motor cd also be seen working
along the rd S. of Harbonnieres

at Ashwell wood.  The 31st went
ahead & got Buchanan Wood.  The 31st took
the S. Edge of this gully - there were lots
of Germans further N - running around
like rabbits.  A L.G. was firing on the
Bn from the main Rd near the hospital.

odd 2s & 3s along the E.W. rd thro' W 6 A.
The C.O. called a temporary halt on the
main road in W 6 A & C. & sent
forwd patrols towds Blue line to see
if it ws held.  Having little
resistance he informed 30 Bn major
tt he ws going to take Blue line
without waiting for Blue tanks.

after 31 Bn ws in Blue Line tho a 
few scouts were thro before.

The first tt ws seen o the train ws tt it
ws steaming up & down this bit of line -

the shell ws overhead before it cd be heard.
The Plane ws a Camel (probly). It 

dropped 5 bombs from abt 100ft on or
abt the engine; the train shifted abt 
20 yds & then stopped - the engine
giving out a lot of steam.  The 
driver & his assistants had bn
