and good luck. Wish you and all the Victory March Contingent
and the Ship’s company, a pleasant and calmer passage than
that already experienced, and a happy time in the old Country
which, speaking as a Pommie, I am sure I will be proud to welcome you. I think that everyone agrees that the march yesterday was most impressive and augers well for the march before the millions in London.‘’
No. 56 ITINERARY - HMAS ‘’SHROPSHIRE’’
The following is the itinerary of HMAS ‘’SHROPSHIRE’’ for
the remainder of the passage to ENGLAND:

No 57. DAILY TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR VOYAGE
0900 - 0915 Fall In, Administration and Inspection
0915 - 1015 PT and Recreational Training
Arms Drill every second day
1015 - 1030 Lecturette
1030 - 1045 Break
1045 - 1130 PT or Drill
1115 - 1130 Rifle Cleaning every second day
1130 - 1500 Dinner Break
1500 - 1600 PT and Games.
No 58 BATMEN
All batmen will be fallen out after 0900 hrs inspection
and will attend to their duties until the fall in at 1045 hrs
when they will carry out normal training.
No 59. DRESS
Dress will remain as laid down at present except that
boots, gaiters and sidearms will be worn Monday, Wednesday and
Friday mornings. Rifles will be carried on the aforementioned days
No 60. BUGLE
"Fall In" will be played over the ship's pipe system by
the bugler at 0855 hrs daily except Sundays, and 1455 hrs
Monday to Friday.
No 61. DAILY PROGRAMME FOR WOMEN'S SERVICES
1000 - 1030 PT and Drill
1045 - 1100 Lecturette
1500 - 1545 PT and Drill
No 62. TOURS
Two parties of six will be taken on a conducted tour of
the engine rooms at 0930 hrs and 1040 hrs respectively. These
will be arranged by CSM.
No 63. ANZAC DAY
A short commemoration service will be held at 1100 hrs
on the Quarter Deck. The parade will fall in at the torpedo
space at 1100 hrs prior to moving to the Quarter Deck.

Pictures will be showing to-night, on the Upperdeck,
(weather permitting), at 1930 hrs.

No 64. LEAVE
(a) Local leave will be granted in ENGLAND at the discretion
of the CO and will not be deductable from any leave credits.
(b) Recreational leave will continue to accrue during service
with the Contingent at the rate of two days per month.
(c) Members of the AMF Component of the Contingent are entitled
to re-establishment leave on discharge on the following basis:-
Where service is less than six months - 15 days
Where service is more than six months - 30 days
As members will be granted Disembarkation Leave and
re-establishment Leave, War Service Leave (1½ days for each month
abroad) will NOT be granted.
(d) Fourteen days disembarkation leave will be granted to
members of the Contingent on disembarkation in AUSTRALIA.
No 65. TAXATION
The normal exemption from taxation will apply during the
period of service abroad with the Contingent.
No 66. WAR GRATUITY
Members will be eligible for War Gratuity in accordance
with the War Gratuity Act.
No 67. PERIOD OF ENLISTMENT
With respect to ex-members of the AMF re-enlisted, the
period of engagement will be for the duration of duty of the
Contingent.
No 68. DUTY PLATOON
CSM will detail a duty platoon daily. This will be availabl
for duty with the ship's company from 1315 hrs. Fatigue dress
will be worn. Place of reporting will be notified.
No 69. HATS
Slouch hats will be stowed below in the Damage Control
Centre. They will be clearly marked with individuals' names
and collected in section bundles, tied together. P1 Sjts will
stow these bundles under the supervision of CQMS.
No 70. PAY
Members are advised to pay express monies in to their
paybooks. The Pay Sjt will be available for this task on
Saturday morning 27 Apr 46.
No 71. SECURITY
Every care should be taken to ensure that valuables are
kept in a safe place. Facilities will be obtained for the stowing
of unwanted valuables during the voyage. Members are to
submit their requirements for these facilities to P1 Sjts who
will notify the CSM by 1400 hrs 25 Apr.
No 72. SHIP'S DUTIES
On rough days when training is impossible, the Contingent
will carry out ship's duties at the following times -
0855 to 1150 and 1315 to 1600.
Fatigue dress will be worn.

The following revision to the daily programme takes effect

1130 hrs - Dinner (Cafeteria)
1430 hrs - Afternoon Training period commences
No 74 SICK PARADE
The daily sick parade for members of the Contingent will
be held at 1030 hrs at the Sick Bay.
No 75 BEDDING
All bedding issued to the Contingent will be marked by
members of the Ships Company on Monday morning commencing
at 0825 hrs:-
Platoons will parade with all their bedding at the following
times:-
No. 1 PA - 0945 hrs

It is illegal to land Sterling NOTES in South Africa.
English silver will usually be accepted ashore.
English notes will be exchanged for South African after
arrival (the time will be piped).
All South African notes should be exchanged back to
English before departure.
The rate of exchange is One Pound English equals One
Pound South African.

Pay Parade will be held at 1030 hrs WEDNESDAY 8 May 46 at a
place to be notified. Personnel are reminded that they must NOT
write in their paybooks.
82. POSTAL
Mail closes at the following times :-
Wednesday 8 May - 2200 hrs
Thursday 9 May - 0800 hrs
Friday 10 May - 0800 hrs
Saturday 11 May - To be notified.
The following letter rates apply on board only:-
AIRMAIL - 3d per ounce and 3 d for each
additional ounce.
ORDINARY - no charge.
3d stamps are available at 5 for 1/- Sterling at the Ships Post
Office.
83. CABLEGRAMS
EFM Cablegrams must be lodged with the Ships Post Office by 1800
hrs Tuesday 8 May.
Three phrases may be sent in number code for 2/6 stg., the code
being available at the Post Office.
These cablegrams may also be sent from Civil Post Offices in
Capetown at the same rate.
84. SMOKING
All ranks are reminded that there has been no alteration to the
smoking rules and that the instructions already detailed must be adhered
to.
85. DRESS
Shorts will not be work accept for sport or when ordered by this
HQ.
