Selection Board
A selection board consisting of the undermentioned officers
will be in attendance at Tattersalls' Buildings, 252 Swanston St
Melbourne, in order to select the personnel required to be
supplied by this HQ:

19. Procedure for ex-servicemen volunteering
Publicity has been given to the fact that ex servicemen who have
served in the 1939-45 war and who are recipients of decorations and
and awards, may make application for selection in the contingent.
Personnel so applying are divided into two categories:
(a) Melbourne and Metropolitan Personnel
Personnel who live in the Melbourne and Metropolitan Area
may make application in person to Tattersalls' Buildings
252 Swanston St where an interviewing officer will be in
attendance.
This officer will ascertain by direct contact with Vic Ech
and Rec whether the applicant is suitable or not for consideration
by the selection board and if so arrange for his
interview by that board:
(b) Country Personnel
It has been publicised that country personnel may make
application by letter or telegram to HQ Southern Command
setting out certain particulars in the communication forwarded.
Arrangements will be made by this HQ DAAG (Adm) to check
with Vic Ech & Rec and ascertain whether it is considered
the applicant is suitable for interview by the selection
board or not.
If not suitable, applicant will be advised by this HQ
accordingly. If suitable applicant will be advised by memo
of time and date he is required to report for interview at
Tattersalls' Buildings and rail warrant for movement to
Melbourne will be forwarded with this memo.
20. Action after interview by selection board
(a) Personnel accepted for inclusion in contingent
Personnel accepted for inclusion in the contingent will be
instructed to report to RR& GDD where they will reenlisted
and held as members of the contingent.
(b) Personnel not accepted for inclusion in contingent
Personnel not accepted for inclusion in the contingent will
be informed accordingly and provided with rail warrant for
return to their homes.
21. Ex Members of the Women's Services will be treated in a similar
manner to that described above for males except that if considered
suitable, all particulars will be noted including address
at which they can be contacted and after final selection by HQ
AMF from those nominated by various commands, they will be advised
whether or not they have been accepted.

INFORMATION
- Approval has been given for the raising of the following unit of the
Australian Contingent to participate in the Victory March in LONDON
on 8 Jun '46.

ACTION
2. (a) Pending the appointment of the CO and other Officers of the Unit,
CO RR & GDD will take immediate action to raise London Victory
March Contingent (AMF Component) in accordance with the provisions
of this instruction.
(b) On assuming command CO London Victory March (AMF Component) will
be responsible for the implementation of the instructions contained
herein.

METHOD
3. Command:
The Co of the Army Component will be responsible for the general
adminstration^&control of tho whole contingent.
Personnel:
4. (a) All personnel required in the raising of the unit will be
obtained by the absorption of personnel selected and moved
to the concentration point at Watsonia in accordance with
HQ Southern Command 30784 of 22 Mar '46.
(b) A copy of tho provisional War Establishment is attached as
Appendix "A" to this instruction.
Training
5. The maximum amount of training will be given prior to embarkation.
Equipment (Southern Command memo 31862 of 27 Mar 46 also refers)
6. (a) Male personnel will be issued with clothing etc as per special scale
at 2 BOD, Kensington. Camp QM, Watsonia will act as QM Detachment
until permanent appointment is made by HQ AMF.
(b) Female personnel will be issued with clothing etc as per special scale by
QM HQ Southern Command, 339 Swanston Street.
(c) Instructions re maintenance stores to be taken by detachment will be
issued later.
(d) Detachment QM will submit G997s for vehicles as per WE.
(e) Detachment QM will indent on Southern Command Stationery Depot for
typewriters, stationery supplies etc.
(f) Instructions re supplies of Medical and Canteens supplies will be
issued later.
MOVEMENT
7. DAQMG (M & GD)Southern Command will arrange for 1 x 22 Passenger to be
available on demand of QM Watsonia as from 1 Apr 46 for the purpose of
convoying personnel between Watsonia and Kensington.
GENERAL
8. A trust fund of £1000 will be provided for use in general entertainment of
the whole contingent. Detailed instructions in this regard will be issued
by the Chief Finance Officer.
9. Progress reports on the implementation of this instruction will be submitted
to reach HQ SOUTHERN COMMAND ("A" Branch) by 6 Apr 46 and weekly thereafter.

His excellency the Governor of Victoria Major-General Sir
WINSTON DUGAN, KCMG, CB, DSO, is taking the Salute at
The Melbourne Town Hall on behalf of His Royal Highness the
Governior-General.The Head of the Column will reach the Saluting Ba
dse at 1310 hrs. -

Major-General K.W. EATHER, CBE, DSO, VD, will command the Parade.

EING POINT.Starting Point is the junction of ALBERT ST and NICHOLSON ST at
1300 hrs. -
BANDS.
With concurrence of R.A.N., a Naval Band will take up position
opposite the Saluting Base by 1245 hrs. It will play the
appropriate compliments to His Excellency the Governor of
Victoria Major-General Sir WINSTON DUGAN, KCMG, CB, .DSO, and
will play the column past the Saluting Base.With the concurrence of R.A.A.F., the R.A.A.F. Band will head
the March; Band to report to the Assembly Area by 1230 hrs. On
approaching LITTLE COLLINS ST it will cease playing and will
resume playing when the head f the column has reached LITTLE
FLINDERS ST. -
ADMINISTRATIVE ARRANGEMENTS.
(a) Move by M.T.
Instructions for the movement of personnel by M.T. are
contained in Appendix "A".(b) Saluting Base.

Service and Civilian Members who have been invited to the
enclosure at the Saluting Base are requested to proceed
as follows :- Move via RUSSELL ST to parking area on North
side of COLLINS ST between Athenaeum Theatre and RUSSELL ST
where parking officials will be in attendance.
Upon alighting, guests to enter Melbourne Town Hall by the
door in COLLINS ST nearest Athenaeum Theatre, where guides
to Saluting Base will be stationed. Guides for this purpose
will be supplied by HQ Southern Command.
