September 1915
26 SUNDAY I went for a stroll
down to Regen Oxford St tonight
27 MONDAY I went out for a carriage
ride this morning
1915 September
28 TUESDAY Went for a motor ride out
hampstead Heath and passed
the Old Ball & bush hotel this morning
29 WEDNESDAY I went and seen the
Wilson collection of paintings armour
etc during the morning. went for a
motor drive out Hampstead way
and had tea at Lady Robinsons house
at 7 Cambridge square and spent
the evening there.
Sept & Oct 1915
30 THURSDAY Went out for a carriage
ride through Chelsea park over the
Chelsea and Albert bridges.
I went to Madam Tussards this
afternoon.
1 OCT FRIDAY I went for a motor ride
this morning seen the guard mount at
Buckingham Palace and was then
taken to the Anzac Buffet. went for
another motor ride this afternoon out
through the Richmond Park.
1915 October
2 SATURDAY I went down to 72 Victoria
St for an extension of my furlough but
could not get it Went to the Oxford
theatre this afternoon. to a vaudevile
entertainment. I got my
watch mended it cost 3/6
3 SUNDAY I went down to
Col Flashmans
office at 70 Victoria St but did
not see him.
October 1915
4 MONDAY I reported at 72 Victoria
St and got an extension of furlough
to the 18th got a pair of breeches
tunic and shirt, and bought
a new hat.
5 TUESDAY I went for a motor side
through Epping forest this morning
We went to a picture show
1915 October
6 WEDNESDAY I went to the dentists
at Harley St at 12pm and had a tooth
drawn with gass. and had my teeth
examined.
7 THURSDAY We all went to the
matinee performance given specially
to wounded soldiers at the Strance
theatre of the Scarlet Pimpernell
with Fred Terry and Julia Neilson in
the leading parts.
October 1915
8 FRIDAY Went for a motor ride this
morning out Hendon way through
Ridlett and Barnett an aeroplane
was up at Hendon. I got a tooth
drawn today at the dentists at
Harley St
9 SATURDAY Went to the play "The
Christian at the Lyric theatre
this afternoon
1915 October
10 SUNDAY I went to service
19 AFTER TRINITY at St Pauls this
morning with another chap.
11 MONDAY Went for a motor ride
through. Hendon Radlett St Albans
Barnett and Golders Green a spring
on the car became defective and we
were taken into the Rolls Royce repair
works to have it fixed while we
waited. I bought a vest pockett Kodak
camera tonight, and went down to the
Victoria League Club.
October 1915
12 TUESDAY I went to an afternoon
and tea given by Lady Turing to
wounded soldiers at the Botanic
gardens this afternoon.
13 WEDNESDAY I went to the Vaudeville
theatre in the Strand to the play
Kick in this afternoon, about 9.45
pm a raid was made by the enemys
Zeppelins on London.
1915 October
14 THURSDAY All of Australians
went to a tea given by Lady
Mrs Gollen at the Popular Caffe.
15 FRIDAY I went to for a motor
ride this morning.
October 1915
16 SATURDAY I went down to
the pay office at Victoria St
and drew 3£. I got leave to be out
till 7.30 and strolled along High St with
Pte Henry he was a prisoner of war at Lille.
17 SUNDAY I went down to
Petticoat lane with
Mr Glover we went there by tube. We
seen the damage done to the London and
South Western Bank and allso at the
buildings in Chancery lane. we returned
by buss I went down to the Victoria
club tonight. I went to a concert at
the Queens Hall this afternoon at 3pm.
1915 October
18 MONDAY I reported at the New offices
at Horsferry Road and after getting
instructions I went and had dinner then
got on board the Weymouth train at the
Waterloo Stn and left at 2.10pm and reached
Weymouth about 6pm we got into a wagon there
and were brought out here where we were
given 3 blanketts and a feed and put into
huts for the night. I was put in 55 hut
19 TUESDAY We paraded at 8.30 and
gave all particulars then went before a
Dr who put me in B coy temporary unfit,
we have been hanging about all day not
knowing what to do with ourselves. I drew
a straw matress and tressels today.
October 1915
20 WEDNESDAY The first parade is at 7am
and after the roll is called we are dismised
Breakfast is at 8 am parade at 9 am
dinner at Parade at 2pm & tea at
A concert was given by the Frolics at
7pm at the YMCA hut. I got a kit
bag, housewife, brush & combe, pair sox &
a holdall today. We had the afternoon off.
21 THURSDAY It has been raining mear
all day and we have been inside
our huts. I spent the evening at the
YMCA at a concert. A picture show
was opened in the camp tonight.
1915 October
22 FRIDAY It has been a lovely day
today. I attended a parade in the
picture show for all A M C details this
afternoon I was moved out of 55 hut into
72 today.
23 SATURDAY It has been raining off
& on during the morning I got leave to go
into Weymouth from 2 to 9 pm and it
rained near all the afternoon making
my trip it to the city very uncomfortable
The Provost Marshal took my name for
not saluting him while in the city I went
to the pictures at the Albany ciraut
hall tonight.
October 1915
24 SUNDAY It has been raining
all night and continued
all the morning I went into the town
tonight and had a stroll up and
down the esplanade.
25 MONDAY I went on the 7 am parade
and was put on Cook house fatigue for
the day I spent the evening at the YMCA
at a concert & lecture entitled Love Courtship
& marriage.
1915 October
26 TUESDAY I went for a march into
Weymouth this morning A ceremonial
parade was held this afternoon, our
new band made its first appearance.
We were shifted into new huts today I was
moved from 72 into 65 hut with the details.
27 WEDNESDAY All the AMC details
fell in on parade together now we went
for a march through Chickerell this
morning. I got leave and went into the
city spent the evening at the show Dare
Devil Dorothy at the Pavillion
October 1915
28 THURSDAY We fell in in front of our
huts for this morning at 9 am and then
were dismissed It has been rather wet today
the picture show was blown down through
the night The A M C details had a
short lecture in the picture show or what
remained of it this afternoon I put in
my name for ration allowance this morning
29 FRIDAY We f went into Weymouth
this morning I left a roll of films to be
developed while we broke off for a spell in
the city. We had no lecture this afternoon
1915 October
30 SATURDAY It is another wet day today
there we did not go for a march this morning
I got leave from 2 to 10pm and went into
Weymouth I went to the pictures at the
jubillee hall and got the films which I left
on friday.
31 SUNDAY A church parade was held
near the orderly room at
10.30am and we marched past the
camp comandant Sir Newton Moore after
the parade. I got a pass but did not use it
as it was to wet.
November 1915
1 MONDAY It has been very cold
and wet today we did not do any
parades further than calling the roll.
2 TUESDAY We fell in at 9 am and then went
for a march along the Chickeral Rd I took a snap
of the party of us while having a rest. I went for
a march with the remander of B Coy this
afternoon along the Chickeral Rd. I to a pass
from 4 to 9pm and went into Weymouth to the
performance of Baby Mine at the Pavillion
It has been a beautiful day although it was
terribly cold this morning.
1915 November
3 WEDNESDAY We have had a heavy frost
and was very cold this morning. We went for a
march of about up past the Dorset camp
into Weymouth this morning. We the details
were paid this afternoon I drew 10/-
4 THURSDAY We went for a march into
the city this morning. I applied for
weekend leave sent christmas cards home
I spent the evening in the YMCA at
a concert.
