Hot & windy, sent
beer out to No 1 by pack
horse.
N.C.O. of picquet at night.

Nothing doing
took rations to No. 1 & 4
brought back empty
Beer bottles on pack
got home late.

Wednesday 26
quiet day very warm &
windy in evening.
Jacko fairly lively at night.
Jacko shelled watering area
in morning no damage
much: No 1 xxxxxxx by x
sent pack ho Sent message
out to gun about being
relieve Bookra from
Malaria Post.

Sent Section pack
horses out to H.Q. for
No 1. took rations out
for No 1. wanted them
not come in off "Malaria
post" expecting Jacko
to attack fairly quiet,
despite all rumour.
A few casualties in
1st (1 killed & 3 wounded)
with a shell.
JUNE, 1918.
Friday 28
Wally Hartnett went
away to Cadet School
Very hot indeed.
Glen Harris & Gordon Jowett
over from 2 a.m. [[?]].
Jacko put some big
shells into watering
area in morning.
Ken Clifton evacuated with
[[Pryscia?]]
Saturday 29
Very warm day. usual
routine. N.C.O. of picquet
Concert at Y.M.C.A. did not
go. crook headache.

JUNE, 1918.
Sunday 30
Quiet day, but hot, & dusty
caught a huge scorpion
about 5 inches long.
Took him over to FA
& ran some sport with
one of their fighters.
Went over to YMCA after
and struck a voluntary
church service, very nice
indeed.
Got home very late after having
a yarn to [[Jess?]] Brothers an Anzac.
Wrote No 115 } Home.

Monday 1
Jacko shelling us before
revaille, shells all around
and within 50 yards of our
lines.
Went out with rations
to H.Q. & No. 1 & 2 sections.
Jacko shelled all posies
about 10 oclock at night
1st Regt horse stampeded
caught it in the neck
but got most of their
horses back eventually.
Parcel business all fixed
up & papers torn up
clear sailing again.

Tuesday 2
Usual routine very
warm & windy.
Sent in some more
"Tit Bits" to the Kia Ora [[?book]]
Lecture by Padre Barty
on Palestine, very good
Wednesday 3
Usual routine
watering parade [[?]]
a day. took rations out
to No. 1 Sect & Hq.
Jacko raided some of
the possies but slipped
Wrote Elsie.
JULY, 1918.
Thursday 4
Very hot day, no
breeze. No.1 Sect. relieved
No. 5 on Malaria post. sent
the horses out.
Heavy Bombardment during
night on both sides.
Took message over to
Brigade for Billy Ahearn
saw some of [[Les?]] Rinaldi's
photo of Jordon. Very good
Friday 5
Sent account of the
scorpion fight into the
[[Ea?]] of the Kia Ora [[?]]
Very hot day.
Capt. McMallern came
out to take over squadron

in vicinity: very

lively happening

[[Colin?]] Harris going to Cairo
to get spliced.
Tuesday 9
Jacko shelled over gun
possie at Malaria Post
two casualties, Curly Murray
killed and Brad wounded
sent Logan & Sourne out.
Beer issue: sent it all out
to the guns.
Mail commencing to flow
in.
JULY, 1918.
Wednesday 10
Very hot day & very
dusty: quiet otherwise
played crib in evening
Very windy after tea.
Lecture on at YMCA
by Capt. Seaton [[?]] on
India.
Thursday 11
Extremely hot day
quiet otherwise., got
good mail (17 letters)
Gift stuff arrived, but
not dished out.

watering parade, took
rations out to gun.

horses out to No 1 to
relieve Section. No 2 took
over.
