Tuesday 4
Quiet day: rather better
weather; not so wet
Professor Brown gave a
very fine lecture on
Why America Went to War.

Wednesday 5
Fairly busy day: cleaning
up prior to move. N.J.
came back from Cairo
Went over to 1st at night
YMCa shifted during
evening
Gussie. (5)
JUNE, 1918.
Thursday 6
Very busy fixing up
all gear for [[tunelers?]]
etc. Us & Bays returned
new issue of gear.
Saddled up at 4. proceeded
onto Solomons Pools & watered
up then straight in
past Bethlehem and Jerusalem
and waited at Bethane
from 10 oclock to 3 for
the 2nd Brigade to pass us.
Very cold & windy night
very strong wind: and
could not get any sleep
JUNE, 1918.
Friday 7
Left Bethane about 3.15
& proceeded along road
to Telat El Dumm. arriving
7.20 watered up & camped
the day; and left again
at 6.30. proceeded round
left hand of wadi. past
Jericho & took up line
where 4th Bgde was.
Very dusty & warm
night left guns in
line & brought led
horses back about 2½
miles, to camp.

In charge of led horses
Very warm day. on
watering parade. dust
6 inches deep, & water
2½ miles away
did picquet at night &
sent out rations to
guns.

Very busy day. Les
Morehead came over
to see me also George
Frances (who and had
just got his M.C.)
4th. Bgde. left about dark
sent rations over to guns.

Very busy day; down

dusty indeed. Our
Canteen opened
Very warm
Sent rations out to
Line.

Jacko shelling Wadi

the horses; pretty bad
prospect for watering up
left us alone luckily.

Killed lot of horses,
Usual routine.

Took horses out to
GHQ. No1 section took
over from No 5
Home very late.

to No 1 & 2. got home
about 11.30.

Rather dusty & hot: had
to report to GHq. over some
trouble concerning a
parcel.

Wednesday 19
Hot day. Roy Davis
came back after furlough
for Australia. went
round to S.N.Q. with him
in evening.
Beautiful night.

Thursday 20
Very hot day. wrote some
articles for Kiara Covee.
Cleaned up stones round
camp in evening
Roy took over No. 6. sectn.
Sent 3000 rounds to No 1.
Picking up stones round
camp area.

Friday 21.
Very hot indeed, no
breeze quiet otherwise
Escorting rations to No 1
& 4.
Got home about 11/30.
Brought back Belt Amm
and replaced it with
bulk.

Very hot day. Jacko
shelling comp just
behind us in evening
shells passing right over
us
Picking up stones & making
roadways through camp after
tea.
