FEBRUARY, 1918. and in Sunday 24 Lent. Remained at Rhudr all day: drew rations also to lot o bantier grontered. some N.Y. Carken stores which the tensis could not take. heave was granded to Settlehen and Jeresetem didnot go. Mafeest feluse FEBRUARY, 1918. Monday 25 0 Left faint early and proceeded to near racariya and camped te night tracelled wit linters to guard some had cantien stuft. disded it out at night

Tuesday 26 Left Lacarua early, & proceeded to feincrin station: then proceeded after watering up to etrn where we had dinner then procuded to Recton. to our dd camp till pretty meany after our day strint ociver- ing over 20 miles. No0 103 wrote FEBRUARY, 1918. Wednesday 27 usual roitine: fixing up camp after strint had to draw several bag of steff left in ordisand Wrote Loo.
FEBRUARY, 1918. Thursday 28 usual routure. MAS played 1st Regr. Locb 15-0 wait over to yicaat night food mail in: but only ofew letters. MARCH, 1918. Friday. I usual routine: got a small lart end of mail Went oven to you Ca at night. supposed to be electure but slipped Mrs Rickman Yean Paie (P.C.)

MARCH, 1918. Monday 4 usual routind rathe busy diering afternoon preparing to go on stewt destination in. known. The Divisional Sand gave us quite a good evening entertainment with nunerous selections and a chap out of the git gave some good cong accompaniet by the bavid. Inoccieated for Cholera in morning and Delovring parade immediately after N very bresy Relo 295 oming indeed. MARCH, 1918. Tuesday 5 devaill early + got away soon afterwards: and proceeded to Rawill wher we camped the night saw some patteries where they were in full process baking in cnderground ovens, marvellous work in the old ruins where the dlay, wds obtained is where a great many cierial bombs for Tanbes were fund after we captured it Pretty oad headache after the inoculation. Wednesday 6 C Revaille early whence we left st9. and proceeded along the Juffa- Jereisation road past Katron dump, to Kunyet en Eenab; where i camped for the night stell pretty crook head uche. MARCH, 1918. Thursday 7 Left Kunyed in Enal and had to go abou 142 miles to water then we proceeded along the old Roman road to Bectunca where we stayed the night: arrivingearly, quite alot of Turkesh big shell lying about.
105 MARCH, 1918. Friday 8 Left Beitunia at 12.30 with 1st Regr. (122 Sections and proceeded to Rain Altah where we diew rations; & procuded aling the Wade Muhersin to Hummon where we camped: dui rations and fodder afterdard. very rough trock all the way from Lawallah a Tante flew downtow over Ram allan + put in a buist of Mashino Gun and aft for its life; the dintis giving it aparting Shot. MARCH, 1918. Saturday 9 Revaille at 3. and proceeded on a few miles to Sayeeb Ch where the infantig were in action: stayed there all day: & saw the Cheshires capture ear Hell. the bombardment was aglonous sight with H.C.L Shrapnel it seemed as if it were impossible for anything to bce in Nt. at 430 we again pershed on to the right where we had to go over some rouge countyy &c enintually got to our dis fination. & took up outpor line of dart: anr se on gun
MARCH, 1918. 4th in Lent. Sunday 10 stand to cet 4. a then after breakfast went in with pack horses to draw rations: good tryp only long got back 130, section had moied out but I found them & issued out rations etc: and went back to camp at dark & watered up. Right Sen on post so had a sleep in MARCH, 1918. Monday 11 Left Camp (Left geen only, at 5.30& wer round to Pear Kill & look over from a toop of the Regt stayed on outpost allday Jucks shelled us about dennetiine: a couple of shells got very close to the horses, we had to shift them. Did picquet at night haining off and on practicady all day part of the might

Friday 15 spelt in outpoot as Ceartill. raining most of the day: veryched wind blowing all day and had a very bad rignt with the horsi as it was so coldr they were very restress icquet. "grantered" some N.Z.
Canteen stores which
the "Newsies" could
not take.
Leave was granted
to Bethlehem and Jerusalem
did not go. (Mafeesh please)

Zacariya and camped

Travelled with limbers
had to guard some
canteen stuff. dished

proceeded to Junction
Station: then proceeded
after watering up to
Ekrun where we
had dinner then
proceeded to Rechon.
to our old camp
All pretty weary after
our 11 day stunt & covering
over 120 miles.

Horses out grazing.

Great lecture by Pardre
Bates at night at the
Y.M.C.A. on Palestine.
France, & Italy & to
say nothing of Salisbury
Plains: quite a good
lecture with plenty of
wit & solid too.

MARCH, 1918.
Monday 4
Usual routine. Rather
busy during afternoon
preparing to go on
'stunt"; destination unknown:
The Divisional Band
gave us quite a good
evenings entertainment
with numerous selections
and a chap out of the
7th gave some good songs
accompanied by the
band.
Inoculated for Cholera in
morning and Delousing
parade immediately after
to "Kilo 295" very busy
morning indeed.
MARCH, 1918.
Tuesday 5
Revaille earlly & got away
soon afterwards: and
proceeded to Ranile where
we camped the night
Saw some potteries where
they were in full process
baking in underground
ovens, marvellous work
in the old ruins where
the clay was obtained
is where a great many
aerial bombs for Taubes
were found after we
captured it.
Pretty bad headache after
the inoculation.
Very windy & dusty trip 

 

MARCH, 1918.
Wednesday 6 
Revaille early whence
we left at 9. and
proceeded along the
Jaffa-Jerusalem road
past Latrun dump. to
Kuryet en Enab; where
we camped for the night
Still pretty crook headache:

Thursday 7
Left Kuryet en Enab
and had to go about
1½ miles to water then
we proceeded along the
old Roman road to
Beitûnia where we stayed
the night: arriving early.
Quite a lot of Turkish
big shells lying about. 

 

MARCH, 1918.
Friday 8
Left Beitûnia at 12.30
with 1st Regt. (1 & 2 Sections)
and proceeded to Ram-Allah
where we drew
rations; & proceeded along
the Wadi Muheisin to
Rumman where we
camped: drew rations
and fodder after dark.
very rough track all
the way from Ram Allah
a Taube flew down low
over Ram Allah & put in
a burst of Machine Gun
and off for its life; the
Antis giving it a parting
Shot.
MARCH, 1918.
Saturday 9
Revaille at 3: and proceeded
on a few miles to Tayeb-Eh
where the infantry were
in action: stayed there
all day: & saw the
'Cheshires' capture Pear
Hill: the bombardment
was a glorious sight
with H.E. & Shrapnel it
seemed as if it were
impossible for anything
to live in it. At 4.30 we
again pushed on to the
right where we had to go
over some rough country we
eventually got to our destination:
& took up outpost
line at dark: and shaft
on gun. 

 

MARCH, 1918.
Sunday 10
Stand to at 4. & then
after breakfast went in
with pack horses to draw
rations: good trip only long.
Got back 1.30, section had
moved out but I found
them & issued out rations
etc: and went back to
camp at dark & watered
up.
"Right Gun" on post so
had a sleep in.
MARCH, 1918.
Monday 11
Left Camp (Left gun only)
at 5.30 & went round to
Pear Hill & took over
from a troop of the Regt
stayed on outpost all day.
Jacko shelled us about
dinnertime: a couple of
shells got very close to
the horses, we had to
shift them.
Did picquet at night
Raining off and on
practically all day
& part of the night

Tuesday 12
Rained the best part
of the day. watered up
early & grazed during
day: taubes over but
very high.
drew rations & usual
routine.

morning: did some
washing: and had
hot bath ("quici")

Thursday 14
On outpost at Pear
Hill. 1st Regt buried
all the defunct "Jackos"
during day: got some
firewood: & otherwise
usual routine

MARCH, 1918.
Friday 15
Still in outpost at
Pear Hill: raining most
of the day: very cold
wind blowing all day
and had a very bad
night with the horses
as it was so cold &
they were very restless
On picquet..
Turks put over a few
shells but did no
damage.
