MEMORANDA.
MEMORANDA.
Whilst seated one day in my
dugout
Weary and ill at ease
I saw a gunner carefully
Scanning his sunburnt Knees
I asked him why he was searching
And what he was looking for
But his only reply was a long
drawn sigh
And he silently Killed one more
MEMORANDA.
-Anzac-
They went out - not knowing to
what they went
And when they found their
ordeal Deal & Hell
They turned into glory. - thousands fell
To their high destiny obedient
To pay the cost of naturhood content
Ah yes they are contented now - how well
They died they knew not when they heard
Deaths Knell
And we who know through tears we
now assent.
And those who held the line from day to day
And month to month until courage grew ^assured
Who toiled and fought & slept to fight again
Just men with doubt and thirst & wounds
and pain
We count them happy too - to have
endured
And battled on in valor not dismay.
