The "Coo-ees" are all Australians. Some interest may be aroused

as to the origin of their name.

The "Coo-ee" was the call of the aboriginals inhabiting the island

the pioneers of the continent - the high-pitched, far-reaching call of a bushman

across the ranges when the presence of another human being was suspected

in those solitary forest. In modern times it is still used by Australians

GREETINGS!

NEW YEAR

1918-1919.

[Picture of Soldier]

NEW YEAR,  1919

In their name who, through the

year that now doth glide

Rich with their honours to

its biding place,

Here blazoned all the days

with deeds of pride,

And hung the nights with

glory of our race,

Whose valour set our southern stars aflame

Like newer meteors down this northern sky ;

We send you from this old year, in their name,

Greetings deep felt, gay memories that lie

Close unto tears, old love and hopes new born

For the newer day that trembles to its dawn.

W.D.
