A message BM 127 has been received by
the G.O.C. direct from the Australian Inf. Bde
asking for fresh troops for QUINNS POST and
suggesting that the 15th and 16th B'ns should
be entirely withdrawn aaa No fresh troops
are available and the G.O.C. desires that QUINNS
POST shall be held by a sufficient garrison of
Australian troops under a specially selected
officer as this post is of vital importance
aaa Subject to this condition you may of
course allow the brigadier to reorganise
his Brigade in whatever he may choose aaa

Please convey to Colonels Monash & Cannan
& all the officers & men of the 4th Aust Inf Bde
my appreciation of the gallantry and
determination of the troops who took part in the
attack on the Turkish lines from Quinn's Post
last night AAA The operation was necessary
in order to relieve pressure on our Forces
in the South and was completely successful
aaa Not only was the enemy obliged to deploy
all his supports & reserves in order to meet
our attack but large numbers of Turks were
killed & there is no question but that a severe
blow was inflicted on them aaa The whole
of the rest of the Division is filled with
admiration of the gallant conduct of their
Australian Comrades.

Quinn's Post, at 2pm at further 100 men. Our front
kept up desultory fire. Our own artillery have been
dropping shells just in front of our own trenches.
The enemy have shelled our position heavily from
the right flank and a number of casualties
