1 The Brigadier has noticed & that Shoulder patches have
been removed from sleeves, in many cases. All
ranks should be immediately warned against any
further such irregular action and any cases should
be firmly dealt with by Commanding Officers. Where
Patches have been removed the Brigadier directs that
the Battalion number must be conspicuously marked
in indelible lead pencil. on sleeves near shoulder.
2 An inspection of the Bivouac Area by Brigadier
this morning discloses that the Roads, ^Tracks and area
generally are not by any means as clean as they
might be. Several men on being questioned stated
they were unaware of orders prohibiting them to
from Cooking or loitering on roadside or
occupying isolated Bivouacs. COs will be good
enough to immediately set these matters right.
3 It is reported that a number of Brigade personnel
is loitering on Beach. An Officer 1 Segt and 1 Corpal
per Bn to request to Brg Major for instructions at
10.30 am today.

Last night a deserter
surrendered himself by entering
one of our trenches and
waking the defenders. AAA what
might have happened had an
attack been contemplated can
be imagined. please send in-
stuctions to Subordinate Commanders
that while there is no
need for all the occupants
of trenches to be awake
those who are detailed to
watch should be on the
alert and should be visited
requently during the night
to ensure this.
