Ascanius took the place
of Afric in our division
she collided with us at
4.30 a.m. The Argyleshire
slowed op sending us the
signal, we signalled
Ascanius but she could
not have recieved same
as she struck our stern
on starboard side with her
port bow carrying away
back bridge & doing
surface damage. This
shock bent us over andsuk she then struck again
admidships only glancing
blows, alarms were
sounded, everyone
