lot of shipping in bay

when we arrived, Orvieto
& Hampshire overtook us
arrived shortly after.
Place not as interesting
as Colombo, very hot,
bay full of sharks
several British war vessels
in the bay, native boats.
Keener at selling

weighed anchorage before
daylight, outside about six, fine sight rest
of fleet waiting outside
Indian transport fleet
inside did not move
out, we formed up to old

arrival sighted Emden
which after exchanging
shots was beached
to save herself. crew
went ashore she tried
to destroy wireless
station, & also cut
cable, the Minatour
in evening chased
the Kronisburg towards
