Dear Mother
Just a line to let you know
that we are still in camp We
are expecting to leave at any
moment for the Old Country
the Transport Ships and
the warships are in Fremantle
waiting to take
us away but there are about
six German warships at
large in the Pacafic Ocean
and I think that is what
the war office out here is
frightened of For it will
be a great stroke of luck
for the German Warships
if they could sink the
transport ships from here
with the 20 thousand soldiers
on board
Well Mother I have been in camp now
2 months I wrote you three letters and
I sent you three pound besides that three
pound that the post master in Stockton
N.S.W. sent on to you I am in the
Australian Army Medical Core and
my address will be when I get to England
will be Private Jack Simpson
Number 202
C. Section
3 Field Ambulance
Australian Army Medical Core
1st Australian Contingent
England
Now Mother I cant tell you exactly
when we are going to leave but I dont
think that we will be long now I think
that we are going to Aldershot when we
get to England So I will be able to come
up and see you pretty often before we go to
the front Now Mother I hope that this
will find you and Annie as it leaves
me at present and that is in the best
of health So give my love to Annie and
with love to yourself
I remain
Your Loving Son
Jack
