AUGUST—1918.
9 Friday—Sun rises 4.36, sets 7.35.
The new Colonel made
his first inspection
in the morning & did
not seem a bad sort,
did a fair amount of
work.
AUGUST—1918.
10 Saturday—Sun rises 4.37, sets 7.33.
Had a quiet day, not much
work & I lay down a good
deal as I was feeling tired.
There was over bombing.
in the night.

11 Sunday- 11th after Trinity.

Had a fairly busy day
of it as there are only
two sisters on & we
have a special case of
lockjaw & it takes one
to look to Him. He died
in the evening

12 Monday—Sun rises 4.41, sets 7.29.
Half-Quarter Day. Grouse Shooting begins.
Did a fair morning's
work but not much
in the afternoon, Aust
mail came today.
Received a parcel from
Mrs Henderson.
Sister Giles left for CCS
Tues operations today.

Not such a big day
Four operations
Air raid in night.

14 Wednesday— Sun rises 4. 44, sets 7.25.

Inspection morning but
the C.O. did not come
round, he is new &
has a different idea to
the last.

15 Thursday—Sun rises 4.46, sets 7.23.
C.O inspection in morning
but we were ready
for Him. Went down on to
the beach for my usual
hour in the evening
& went to sleep.

16 Friday—Sun rises 4.48, sets 7.21.
Just got through the day
with my usual work
& a yarn to Sister Wells.

17 Saturday— Sun rises 4.49, sets 7.19.
Nothing much doing today
it was a rough windy
day so I did not go for
my usual walk.

18 Sunday - 12th after Trinity.

A very quiet day, the afternoon
I spend down with
Sister Wells in the Theatre
Bunk. & in the evening
went to church with
her.

19 Monday — Sun rises 4.53, sets 7.15.
Two operations today other
wise nothing doing.
The afternoon as usual
lately spent in theatre
bunk.
In evening went on to
prom but weather drove
me in.

Nothing doing today
Went down to theatre
Bunk in evening.

21 Wednesday— Sun rises 4.55, sets 7.11.
Was warned to appear
before the C.O. for purpose
of being inspected to
go out but it was a
washout.

Nothing fresh other than
that I had a stroll on the
beach with Sister Wells
in the evening.

Saw Capt. Ross but was
not marked out but
from what he said I
wont be here much
longer.

25 Sunday - 13th after Trinity.

Evg. - 2 Kings vi. 1-24, or 2 Kings vii.
Mark i. I-21.
Went to Church twice
once at 11 & again at
6. P.M., was driven in
off the beach by a storm
in the evening.
AUGUST—1918.
26 Monday—Sun rises 5.4, sets 7.0.
Spent a fairly busy day.
Things are getting lively
here now many wounded
coming in, 65 operations
were on the lists for the
day.

27 Tuesday—Sun rises 5.5, sets 6.59.
Asked to be marked to
Base details today & was
duly marked up, spent
the morning with Sister
Wells in Theatre Bunk.
Arrangements made for
reception of many wounded
but they did not arrive.
AUGUST—1918.
28 Wednesday—Sun rises 5.7, sets 6.56.

The day arrives for leaving
Hospital, during my stay
here I have made many
friends both among the
patients & Sisters & I
was glad to get clear of
the "Good-bye, good luck
that have become the
usual parting words.
Arrived at Base details
about 6. P.M. travelled
per Ambulance, feel
very much like a fish
out of water last night
a good bed plenty of
bed clothes & tonight
no bed & one blanket
