 My darling wife
 Hullo honey sweet, Queen of
my dreams Queen in reality, girl!  I
reckon I love you considerable and 
I'm moderatly happy especially as on this
Wednesday afternoon 30 May.  I am free
(I hope to write a line or two to You
Since I wrote last,
I have been on two trips (not with
boongs,  and we went prepared to meet
stray nips at any stage of the journey
As you can visualize tracks are very
important in jungle country, and that where
we went, looking for them.
We saw yesterday about 8 sets of new
footprints (Jap) and followed along
a track this morning on which a Jap
had walked not half hour before,  I’ll
bet my hat on that.
But we didn't see the blighter and he
knows this country like his own hands.
We expected to be away all day, but 

we were lucky to find the track early
and so got back early, or just after
dinner.
Talking of dinner one of the lads carried
cut lunches for us as in a sand bag and
when we stopped for a smoke on the
track, another bloke sat on it and
squashed all the sandwiches, then later
we were walking along a creek the
chap carrying the bag fell in! lunch
and all, so I gave it away, and we had
dinner when we arrived back.  I knew 
by then we’d be home a lot earlier than
expected so everything was OK. 
So here I am having showered sitting on
my stretcher (you know our stretchers came
in didn't you, yes the same as we had on
the other island, (Womans Weekly),
And I guess you realize I love you, ho-hum 

I should say I do.
Now we had a lot of rain last night
OH and a visit by Togo’s air force, 

 it may come as a shock to her, the Army 
not having informed her personally.
OK.  So we're not allowed to mention
anything of that nature,
Now 29.
Seems you are getting a letter or two now
which is good,
Yes I know Kev Johnson of Rosewater he’s not
with us though in one of the other Bns
probably
You write a page in answer to my
Silly trash about things with knobs and 
costing 3/6  etc and tell me there was 
no such word as beautifullest, well
there is now, (add it to the dic - it
means not beautiful - not most beautiful
but the most disireable lovely kissable
lady in the world, yes you I mean, not
fooling either.
Glad you bashed my lobes with Lili
Marlene honey, we have a song about
the landing to the same tune, and

thats 3 nights in a row, drops a few
bombs in the swamps and clears out.
Didn't even wake me up last night,
not a patch on his Darwin raids, I 
wonder where he sends them from,
Now that’s all the news so more letter
answering, No 28.
You visited Mildred and Eleanor behaved
splendidly, good, I can realize quite easily
how she'd shout "Mine!, she taught me
that while home singing out Mum!
She'd be in the kitchen on the chair and
I say sing out to Mum, which she would
then I'd say no good sing out loud and
whow!  She'd nearly lift the roof.
Now I have Alan's address, I know where
his crowd are and just as soon as I
can be free Ill go see him, Shells from
his guns whistle over our heads all
day and nights.
Its quite true as you mention it is
hard for us to send home presents 

from here they're just non ex, and next
month is a string of birthdays, I dunno
I'll just have to say I'm sorry, I know
you understand so I don't worry, so much
Have got O.K.  the meaning of Stepped
out of a bandbox now!  quite true,
That's how I am these days, having a
good batty I'm turned out all fresh
every night, and there's lots to be said
for his work as its so muddy on those
tracks in the jungle and the clothes
soon smell with sweat.
On the back of this letter you mention
glamour pants being hit, quite true
and he's not the first or the last
he's O.K., though not back yet, he was
certainly lucky.  I won't add to that
as all mention of those things is taboo
as we don’t know how much they tell
the Next of Kin understand?  or if I
told you so & so had been killed, &
you knew his wife and told her of it 

the chap who wrote it whom I know well
is now diseased disceased (killed)
Yes you told me of the map you had
and I bet you agree you never knew so
much about these islands before,
Well honey ending no 29 I know that you
love me, ob our babies are happy and
everyone home is well,  I am well
(getting fat I think) so I am happy
in the knowledge that all is well,
Cheerio dear wife for now know that
I love you, love you endlessly,
I could write more but Im a bit
stiff and tired from walking especially
when Ive been in wet clothes so
long, so I'm going to censor the mail
and snooze for the first time of an
afternoon since being here,
Once again darling cheerio God be with
you for I need you ever
