Darling wife,
Hullo, beautiful lady, here
I am again for a line or two,
I have a letter here No 27 which
I received yesterday.
I have been in this new position
four days now and it looks as if
my mail will catch me again, I
honestly don't understand why there
should be any gap because we get
mail in every day here.
However since I wrote last, I cannot
tell you what I am doing just at
present as it concerns the operations
but if you know that I am not
with the Coys - well, Im half
way. and there are no roads, and
you have an idea from what the
fuzzy wuzzy did in New G. well
 

they’re doing it here and my Plattoon
look after them and guide them.
So a trip to the Coys comes my
way every other day.
We had a lucky break day before
Yesterday, one of the nigs set off a 
grenade (accidently) and we were
standing right by, and one of our
fellers took off his hat and there
was a hole clean through it, its
miraculous how noone got hurt.
The boys in ACoy are having a stiff
trot just at present, theyre doing a
wonderful job, up there.
The war may be finished as far
as a lot of people are concerned
but it's far from over for a lot
I know, and theyre not many hundred
yards from here.
Well Ive termed this little hill
Im on as halfway house, we are
 

making tea and providing a place
to rest for fellars all day long
fellars passing through either going in
or coming out.
Well I should like you to see our
doover now, I did some work on it
while Vic (the batty) was away, and
have built it off the ground, its
alright now and so comfortable that
I couldn't sleep last night, of course
nothing ever would come up to our
bed at home, but I get used to
a few few different beds.
Well darling Im going to close down
for today, will be able to write
again tommorrow now, so Cheerio
darling and all my love for you
