20 April.
To my own dear wife,
Hullo beautiful
girl today or tonight is Friday and
I'm here to answer some more of
your lovely letters
I have Nos 9.10.12 here now, I
expect 11 has been delayed somewhere.
Anyhow darling I bet you that Im
loving you considerable these days, It's
pretty easy and often that I think
of you and of your love.
No further news for you as yet, but
I reckon you'll hear more from other
sources than I can be permitted to write
However its probably probable that even
that may be relaxed soon.
Your letter No 9 to hand, an eight
pager. You evidently make yourself
write more letters then I do, I
2
Can't for the life of me find the time
or the inclination to write as I should.
Mr Fraser, Mum xx, Joyce, Tom, I do owe
letters to them but they seem only of
minor importance, for these days my only
desire is to write to and receive letters
from you. I know that's unfair and
not good form but there it is, I
suppose I'll catch up one day, when
we're not so busy.
I had to smile honey at your explanations
regarding the tea you prepared whilst
Mum xxx was away getting hats done.
And you didn't do your block, now,
You told me some time ago it was
impossible for anyone with a temper to
control it, or at least you said you
couldn't, I know you can, and now
you're proving your backbone and proving
me right. It's a good thing though I
agree

Yes I understand Mr Fraser's Soldiers
Comforts fund in fact I suppose Ive
have near £1 in 2/- canteen orders at
different times from him.
Well it doesn't sound too good to me
travelling in a troop train (Ken
Pope) bride and all, travelling would be
OK if they were on their own but
Meals! ugh! finish 3 or 400 troops
leering at you for an hour or more
for there wouldn't be anything else
to do on the stations
Well they have the right idea, in one
way (visiting etc first), everything comes
to those who wait and a bit of
waiting is OK get me? You ought too.
Well now honey you had received
my letter indicating per medium of
the hit with the head knife,
what I was up to, however I
4
feel you have a clearer picture
now, but Mr Fraser had nothing
to do with our position now!
Did I say Pop wasn't thrilled with
his overseas job, I meant to say
that he was, definitely thrilled
to be taking part, even in a
small way, for honey I have been
in the army including prewar
service nearly 8 years and this is
the first time I have been able
to be where our enemy are and
my ideas for those 8 years still apply.
Train hard and you'll fight hard
is my policy. and it is the policy
of our unit.
You are getting or have got a similar
view on life and our married love
as I have. I might even proudly t add
have have for a few years now
praps you had it without realizing
it.
This letter now dwindles to an
abrupt finish honey. Im sorry
but more work has come up
tonight and Ill have to catch
the mail in the morning.
So cheerio darling for now. Know
that I love you dearly and
will write again tomorrow
night
love for our babies and regards
to all at home I think of
you + of them constantly.
My love is yours
Forever
Col.
