My darling wife,
Well hullo honey
I love you xxxx, Im here tonight
to write a few more lines and
answer a letter or two, No news
except that my paybook's is now
up to date and I have now
£40 clear, I shall see the pay
bloke in the morning and have
it despatched to you.
Youll be wondering how I come
by all that, well it included
a tax refund, all the 1/6 and
one & a pennys paid since last
July is refunded.
Also we get an increased
rate in pay 1/6 or so more a
day. So we should do alright
Its certainly a muggy climate
we have here and its even
hot sleeping in my birthday
suit, I'd like to remove the
Coat of that.
So best, seeing that news is
negligable answer some mail
no 5-6-7-8-9-10,, how's that?
Ive answered 1 & 2, No 3 I
received before leaving aussie
no 4 I think I had that one
also, must check to see if
I answered that one.
you love me, and how am I.
well Im fine, and Im a
one man army today, tell you
why later,
And why not, may I ask, I
see no reason why Mrs CD Simper
shouldn't be a society lady,
(between you & me though, I
reckon they're lucky we let
them use our name in their
old Country rag "a bit out of
our class deah you know!
I'm sure proud you manage these
cheery lines from Nell's it's a
big kick for me to know you
are thinking of me, regardless
of where you are.
Well now no 6 Good Friday
written also from Nell's place
you open up the letter, saying
you don't feel good you feet etc."
Don't you feel, its good to feel
bad that way; I mean I don't
think its bad, to feel good
when its bad, or am I nuts
but I get like it too so, don't
worry, you should know!?
I can imagine what "everything
imaginable is, re your conversations
with Nell, I can too.
Isn't it funny though, you say
here you were waiting for a
letter from me, I presume,
and it seemed as if you'd
been waiting a year, I often
get like that especially when
you go somewhere, it seems
on awful long time since I
received your last letter, yet
in fact, though lots have
happened to me, and all around
me, the time hasn't lengthened
and on thinking of it I find
its only a couple of days or
maybe three.
Remember your chocolate cake, !!
how can I ever forget, well
when I saw it, it was strewn
all over the dining room table
just as if a bomb had landed
on it, you should be claimed
by manpower to work in a
brick Kiln making bricks,!!
my-my - how I go on so
flashy clothes flashy ca
me me I had the best
looking girl right alongside
me that existed for miles
around,, you bet 13 is a
lucky no, I'm going to take a
Tatts ticket with that no on
it, that I will
My ears should burn you say
well they have been pretty
warm just lately.
You'll not write to Len Chapman
at all, blow him, if you do
you put my address on it
so do I'll have the privilege
and the elation of getting a
letter from you, and dont
forget, I get one big thrill when
a letter arrives from you, just
changes my whole body when
I see your writing, for I'm in
love with you and if you were
to walk on it, I'd be a
mighty happy man, to know
you'd been around, This letter
Im holding in my hand now,
when I consider you touched
it, you were near enough for
me to kiss you when you wrote
it well, my heart joins hands
with my head and it joins
hands with every other fibre
in me, and I sing and ring
with love and feeling about
You.
Well Im going to bed honey,
to bed, yes such is life
without my wife,, anyone who
reckons he's a bachelor ought
to be in the looney in my
opinion.
So that's about all for answering
in 5-16, so cheerio my
wife cheerio and know that
am happy Im anxious to
get on and answer todays
please darling have pity on
a poor underfed innocent
husband and please honey
you will who look after ickle
me after the big war, will ya
honey.??!
I wonder would the "News", put
in an article for Lt Simper, or
thats Mrs CD Simper's husband,
visiting the Northern areas Lt
Simper is entertaining the
Japanese along with his boys.
Am I sorry I was at Sema4
on the 13 April 41, well dont
speak of it, you would hardly
believe that I wasnt worried
whether I went or not, I never
ever did, until then, my dear
you don't know how unlucky
you were, fancy picking up
a drip like me, of all people
why there must have been
hundreds of blokes down there
letter, its so true, it sums up
our life together so well
every word is us, our love
and our life, and I shall
Keep it always as today it
made me a one man army.
