Xmas Day 42

Darling Rene

Hello beautiful wife, yes today

is Xmas day & I have received the best

xmas present of all, having received two

letters from the bestest little wife in the

world. Pen is not showing much ink it

probably wants filling, I see you have

the flowers ok, and I am glad you

liked them and pleased too that everything

has turned out O.K.

Yes there's no doubt about it I know

for a fact that the twelfth is much

more important to me than practically

any other date, my birthday the 28th April

is just another day as far as I'm concerned

alongside the 12th Dec, and when its getting

round that date I remember I was very

careful to note each day waver to the

days of all days when my luck came in.

Yes by next anniversary we will be a

couple of old married people, in truth

though we will still be young, but old

I suspect in experience,

Gosh am I waiting for this war to end

or am I, when we can settle back

into the job at hand and put our

whole heart & mind into the task.

Building & more building will be our common

program for a year or two.

Congrats to both Bob & Shirl from me

honey and all the best for them, they

are doing the right thing, I think that

anyone that doesn't get married, (providing

they're in love) are nuts they don't know

anything about life or living, a man knows

little of love before he is married, being

married changes the whole angle of love

it seems to make a love  definite & lasting

a common understanding. Companionship

developes and both become as one living

thinking person, I know that there are

although I may selfishly say that none is

a love such as ours, I Know that there are

many couples that are in love, they are

foolish if the don't get married.

I think I have seen the picture "Stella Dallas"

was Kay Francis in that it so I have seen

a long time ago and yes it is a sad

picture all right.

You ask me was I pleased, and surprised

too, I'll say I was, the day I received the

pen I had no earthly idea that you

intended sending it and when called over

to collect a registered parcel, you had me

in.

Last night we went the rounds singing caves

and returned home about eleven oclock,

pretty hoarse & tired.

Today I intended going to communion on this

morning but I didn't get up till nine

oclock.

Dinner we've just had, and what a dinner

we could hardly walk back from the mess

We first served all the men, acting as mess

orderlies for them, and then went on to our

mess & tucked in, Roast poultry potatoes

ham, trombone, with tons of Xmas Pudding

to follow. Well was it any good.

then I collected my Comforts issue and

altogether it has been a good day

Contents of the Comforts were, 1 tin fruit, 1 tin

cream; 1 pkt cheese; 1 tinned Xmas Pudding,

2 oz of tob; about a 1½lb of cake 1 tube toothy

½ pound of ration chocolate and a Xmas

Card. about 7/6 worth and everyone up

north got the same hows that they

certainly do a good job.

Don't know this Colin Williams you speak of

he may know me by name, I might know him

by sight.

You getting those action dreams now eh!

Yes I have them quite often and when all

is well and I'm not disturbed I can actually

feel you, as you say, not for long though.

How I love you honey, its so strong within

me sometimes I could burst, Yep honey

I am pretty close to you all the time, I

think of anything were to happen I'd know

if you were alright instantly.

Well honey wife I shall close, hoping

and praying that soon Ill be with you

So that next Xmas may be more than a symbol

— a living real celebration with those we

love & those we cherish & long for,

I love you truly honey and reading

how much you love me and it makes

me very happy darling & confident.

Thank & Bless you all at home for

I love you so.

XXX Forever

Colin
