Letters of Athol Cluny McPherson, April - August 1915 - Part 6
My Dear Parents
Just a hurried line to let you know
that I am well & hope you are all the same.
I was glad to receive letters from both
you, Father & Jean of the 4 10th of March
I just heard that the mail is closing
so can only write a few lines. If I had
any idea that the mail was going I would
have written several letters. Please excuse
this short note. Heaps of love to all
at home & kind regards to all Horsham
friends. I remain
Yr loving son

My Dearest Mother
Just a few lines to let you know that
I am well & hope you are all the same.
I was pleased to get letters from, you you Father
Jean & Fred by the last mail dated the 17th & 18th
& glad to know that you were all well at home
at the time of writing. I hope you have had
a good fall of rain by now, a good season this
year would soon wipe out what you lost in the
last one, as wheat is sure to be a big price this
year. Fancy chaff being eleven pounds ten in Ballarat
it must surely have been a drought down there.
I was sorry to hear about poor old Morris, but he's
getting a very old man now & a person cant expect
to live for ever, there is a Smith in our coy
(he came with the Reinforcements) who knows
him well, he used to live out at Dollum
near Hickeys & of course knows everybody round
Brimsprings. Well Mother Dear there
is no news so will close. With heaps
of love to all at home, Marion included
& kind regards to Miss Jenkins
I remain
ever ys loving son
