Same as yesterday nothing
of note happened.
Sun 12^th
Not feeling the best touch
of dysentery put in bad day
at the station.
Mon 13^th
Never went to work had
the trots all day back in camp
Tues  14^th
Went into C.D.S. feeling
very crook dysentry taking
toll with P.O.W.s
Wed 15^th
Still in C.D.S. feeling
a bit better
Thurs 16^th
Luck against me sent
back to Changi with 100
others all sick men
feeling much better
Frid 17^th
Spent a bad day not the
same freedom as we had in
Singapore, just about OK again
Sat 18^th
Got a few days no duties
so just lounged about the camp
Sund 19^th
Church Parade did a bit
of washing strolled about felt
pretty down in the dumps.
Mon 20^th
Just lounged about camp
heard few rumors about what
the Yanks are doing don't know
where news comes from.
Tues 21^st
Had 8 meals of rice
miss the good feeds we
had in Singapore.
 

Wed 22^nd
Back to duties, a guard

duty on the boys in the book

prisoners of War in a book
in P.O.W. camp strange as
it may seem.
Thurs 23^rd
Went on Salt Water
party scrounged a few
coconuts. Have to be very
careful if caught with a
coconut it costs £5.0.0.
and so many days detention
Frid 24^th
More fatigues wood &
water and other odd jobs
still on rice 3 times a day
Sat 25^th
Anzac Day & we are P.O.W.s
certainly made a mess of
things here, fatigues
just as usual.
Sun 26^th
Went on ration party and a
decent walk it was too, had
to push trailer back loaded
with stores mainly rice.

Mon 27^th
Went to dentist & had impression
taken for new plate
did few odd jobs.
Tues 28^th
Few rumors going about
B.B.C news can't believe it
water & wood party.
Wed 29^th
Just another day.
Thurs 30th
Went wood party in morning
salt water this afternoon 
Frid 1^st May
Came to Singapore as advanced
party for road making
Place called Thompson Road.
 

Sat 2^nd
Cleaned out houses
for the rest of the boys that
will arrive today. The
Boys arrived after marching
16 miles
Sunday 3^rd
Church Parade and few
odd jobs and made our quarters
a bit comfortable.
Mon 4^th
Went out to work out on
our new job roads making
to the shrine that Nippon
is erecting in honor of the
dead at Bukit Timor
Tues 5^th
Marched about 3 miles
to our road making fairly
big jungle timber to cut
through.
Wed 6^th
Exactly the same as
previous day.
Thurs 7^th
Same as yesterday boys
making fair impression although
2000 troops should cover a bit
of ground in a day.
Frid 8^th
Road work again
Saturday 9^th
On road once again
Sunday 10^th
Mothers Day and we
were road making Jap guard
got a bit playful and made
a crack at me with my own
steel helmet, cut hand and
had to get stitch in same.
Mon 11^th
Nippon gave us holiday
suited me with bad hand
Tues 12^th
Went to work but did
not do much afraid of busting
stitch.

On the road once again

Nothing of note happened

Road again

Road work & talk of Pay
10 cents per day, will be
handy if it comes to life
Sunday 17^th
Went out on road had
Church Pde during lunch
hr, nice meal plain rice
went back to camp early
and actually got paid
in Japanese money 1. Dollar

Out on road again
bought a few chinese eats
tasted better than they
looked change from rice
Tues 19^th
Same as yesterday
Wed 20^th
Road making found two
skeletons of A.I.F. lads gave decent
burial both. 6 X.
Thur 21^st
Road again a couple of
the boys got bashed up by
Nippon
Friday 22^nd
Nippon getting a bit fresh
must be getting something for
his corner else where. found
more bodies can't be recognized
Sat 23^rd
Find heaps of chinese
bodies in jungle tied together
and probably shot by Nippon
road work progressing fairly
fast with just men labor
 

Sunday 24^th
Just another day
Mon 25^th
Same as previous day
Tues 26^th
Had easy day still on road
Wed 27^th
On roads again went down
to near by village bought few
eats & boong tobbaco which
is very strong smoke anything
now.
Thur 28^th
Out on road again Nippon
still a bit harsh on some of
the troops gets a bit too playful
at times.
Frid 29^th
Went to work but was
back in camp soon after
lunch, for some unknown
reason.
Sat 30^th
No Work, just did bit
of washing.
Sun 31^st
Church Parade no work
Mon June 1^st
Also no work in Camp
all day.
Tues 2^nd
Still no work boys think
something in the wind.
Wed 3^rd
Two boys broke camp went
into Chinese villages, and did
very well as regards food & money
Thurs 4^th
Still not working so we
go out on the scrounge did
very well as regards food
money & smokes, Chinese
very good to Aussies
 

Friday 5^th
Went out of camp again
was not many P.O.W.s left
in camp Nippon does not
seem to be worrying much
Sat 6^th
Had to be in it with
the boys so went into
Singapore had plenty to
eat and drink given a few
Dollars and tin food stuffs
Chinese are extra good
Nippon never took much
notice after giving them
a salute.
Sunday 7^th
Took trip to Singapore
again and did a bit of
good got 17 loaves of bread
cigars, cigarettes and few
Dollars good day.
Mon 8^th
It must have got too willing
as more P.O.Ws were roaming
about Singapore than Nippon
so the big round up took place
Some of the boys were a bit
unlucky and were picked up
by Nippon.
Tues 9^th
Those caught by Nippon were
bought back to camp and went
up before the Colonel, fined
£5.0.0 & 14 days detention, was
a bit lucky myself just made
camp with ½ hr to spare.
Wed 10^th
No work still, big muster
parade by Nippon to see how
many men were missing, few
of the boys tried to make
a break but soon picked
up, got bashed up by Nippon
 

Thurs 11^th
Still a bit of an uproar
by Nippon over boys still
missing four or five rollcalls
a day Nippon very anoyed.
Frid 12^th
Back to road work
Nippon still very anoyed
and are bashing the boys
about, not so good pick
on any one of us.
Sat 13^th
Road work again
pressure being put on by
Nippon keep us flat out
not so good.
Sunday 14^th
On the road again
had Church Parade in
lunch hour, still flat
out and longer hrs.

Mon 15^th
Just another day, nothing
of note happened.
Tues 16^th
Road work, found more
bones no discs to identify
thought to be English, given
decent burial.
Wed 17^th
Went to Bukit Timor
to do brick laying quite easy
day Nippon gave us good hand
out meat for dinner, pineapple
and rice cold bottle of tiger.
Thurs 18^th
Same job as previous day
very easy haven't laid any bricks
as yet more hand outs by
Nippon, treated very well
only four of us in party
so that may be reason for
the good treatment
 

Friday 19^th
Same job as yesterday
easy day carted few bricks
was out near old surroundings
where we left to defend the
island oil tanks razed to
the ground by Nippon bombers
Sat 20^th
Went Bukit Timor passed
old camp site badly knocked
about after we left it lucky
we left when we did, as next
day it was bombed heavily
Sun 21^st
Back on same job much
the same as previous day
Mon 22^nd
Went through Singapore
to get sand Nippon Officer
bought us coffee, beer, pastry
and smokes was a bit
good.
Tues 23^rd
Same as yesterday all over
again, had good hand out
Wed 24^th
Another day only difference
we got paid our 10 cents per day
be able to buy a few things such
as tobbaco & papers such as it is
Thur 25^th
Good job came to end quite
suddenly, back on road work.
Friday 26^th
Have not been to good all
day, terrible pain in belly
taken down to R.A.P. given
dose of salts.
Sat 27^th
Didn't feel the best but
went to work as usual
pains gradually going away.
Sun 28^th
Out again on road work
 

Mon 29^th
Standing by to go back
to Changi again, for some
unknown reason.
Tues 30^th
Still standing by back in
the camp to go to Changi
Wed July 1st
Arrived back in the Changi
P.O.W camp, full of the blues
left all mates in Thompson Road.
Thurs 2nd
Had severe pains in belly
M.O. thinks it may be appendex
Sent to M.I.R. under observat.
Friday 3^rd
Still in M.I.R pains no
worse sent to specialist
regarding varicose veins
referred me to A.G.H.
Sat 4^th
Sent over to A.G..H to have
veins fixed up have not interviewed
hospital MO as yet
Sun 5^th
MO has look at leg says
injections will do the trick
Mon 6^th
Had one injection for viens
leg very sore at the moment
Tues 7^th
Just another day at Hospital
Wed 8^th
Had very bad night pains
in belly, told M.O. this morning
said they were appendex symptoms
took sample of urine.
Thur 9^th
Told I was having appen.
opperation tomorrow, while it
was convenient at the time
so not looking forward to
tomorrow.
 

Friday 10^th
Got as far as opperating
table. M.O had look at
result of urine test found
it contained sugar opperation
postponed.

Urine tested twice
daily still signs of sugar

sugar, sold opperation
