when their magic brought me surcease from
fatigue, fierce pleasure. No wonder I should
like to hold them and kiss each one
By now, my G.E. Screed will
have reached you. I think after reading
your latest letter that I painted a picture
far too sombre. At least there were
many hometruths in it so maybe it will
do some good.
Any how I was pleased
that you put aside your forebodings
and tore into the hundred and one
things still to be done whatever the state
the world at large is in. People can
jibe at the commoness of those little
jobs but with no work to do. You can
get yourself into a terrible fix
The little chap appears to
have recovered his ampl aplomb and
when I read how he entrances you
I bless him a thousand times.

I have three green envelopes
put by now and soon shall consume
severeal sheets of your fine parchment
in another of my (shall we say) nobled
letters. I can't submerge myself very
often to the mood necessary to write
in that strain but perhaps its just as
well not to be stark & soulful frequently.
Not much news concerning my
placid existence, I'm jolly well, eating
well in spite of a surfeit of tinned grub,
prunes, rice, atebrin etc and need I say
that sleeping blissfully for eight hours
presents no difficulty at all. Managing
to cram in a daily swim and my midriff
is now down to 33 inches. The prickly heat
is my chief foe so a further tin of soothing
talc is very welcome
Well, bedtime is nigh so off we go
but tarry to .... and your magnificent
son I love you ... Sweet Dreams.
Dad.
