Darling Kay.
This is New Guinea
calling, Sweet, can you hear
me. Well, here's the news
brought to you from the old man
by courtesy of H.M. Mails. Had
a good show last night. Gladys
Moncrieff and Co. gave a concert
on the local sports ground and
it was topnotched. Gladys with
the weight of many summers
and twelve stone or so upon her
gave of her best and she can
sing. The others were swell too
and a terrific crowd awaited
their efforts. Usual hot steamy
night but that's nothing out
the ordinary.
I trust this finds
Mummy and Richard enjoying
2/
the best of health with plenty of
balmy weather to help you
keep the sparkle in your eye. Poor
Micky isn't so bad but rather
wilted at the moment. Been a
bit off color the last couple of
days with a common complaint.
Nothing serious but devilish
inconvenient. Tis not a thing one
should discuss but at least I'll
say that bobbing out of bed
several times during the night is
not my idea of fun & games. I
have your letter of 16th before me,
thanks so much, pet, they are
still the brightest event in my
life. Very pleased Sylvia
is over the usual harrowing experience
and it seems as though John has
bequeathed to the world a fine
bonny boy. I'm so glad twas a
boy, he'll never die while the
boy called John Clarke is
3/
there to carry on the family line.
I can guess how delighted Mother
must be. I popped off a wire
to the address you gave me.
Your parcel of soap,
powder etc and the little bottle
of hair tonic have turned up
and very nice too. For future
guidance, no more Figsen or Laundry
soap cos stocks on hand are
more than sufficient. In fact, I'm
pretty well fixed for toilet articles
of all kinds. Do you know I have
three jars & three sticks of
shaving soap. Blades are the
snag up here as far as shaving
is concerned. You'll be pleased to
know the bald patch is going
away fast now. I gave is it a
dab with your stuff to hasten it along.
Xmas will be with us
in a few days but as I have
4/
to work, it doesn't cut much ice
with me from the festive point
of view.
Sorry this screed is
a lame kind of a affair but
the old skull feels pretty
wooden. Search as I may,
the words wont tee up somehow.
So I'll try tomorrow to
improve the performance.
Until then my darling
cheerio and I'll just blow
you a kiss each and send
all my love.
Yours ever
Micky

Darling,
One would be a
curmudgeon to cavil at the mail
situation for your pamphlet of
6th Dec. arrived today and
that makes five in two days.
So if that can't produce a G.E.
letter then I'm a Chinaman.
First thing to tell you is that I
had a telegram of greetings from
the Rowlings. Very sweet of them
I reckon. As telegrams lodged now
won't be delivered to by Xmas I
sent a letter in return and enclosed
one of the snaps of Richard. They
have to be pretty good mates before
I part with one of them. Also
I fixed up for a copy of Khaki
& Green to go to your Mother.
I don't think delivery will be made
until after Xmas though. I
