gravel out of our Rice, as couldn't
continue rice stamping by hand
or foot on a/c weakness. Find
the stone picking very hard on
my eyes. 14 old men moved

into our room yday, including
old Nicholson. 14 moved to other

rooms to make way for them

so we are still 64 in the room.

My weight now 9st 7lbs, loss of

about 4 stone since Singapore.

A beautiful double rainbow
easily the best I've ever seen
on our Wedding Anniversary
today, right across the Southern
Sky - which I take to be a good
omen for our future.
Bought handful of peanuts for
ƒ1.40 (equal to about 4/-) with

money from Jean's case sold;

also plate of watery bean soup

for 30c.

Several rats, the Camp Dog &

2 snakes eaten today on a/c

food shortage.

augment my ration (Sayor Kani). Js Told

Bill Temoulin, who escaped & was

re-captured, that we were being underfed

because J internees in USA were

being worse fed!!  Several letters arrived

from Aust. England & Canada. Took

9 months to reach here.  Nothing for

me but I live in hope.  Also it appears

from letters that Etties convoy reached
Sydney OK. Thank God for that.
We think it is only a matter of months
how long we can exist on this food.
I am very weak & weigh 10 st; also
my bladder is so weak I cannot hold
water.  Couldn't continue rice stamping.
Js evidently stolen our pocket money
