Darling Kay,
Delighted to get your first letter from
Melbourne and so pleased the train trip was
not so severe and you are feeling tip top once
more. Quite a delegation to meet you, a pity the
wire to your mother got into a spot of bother. But
as things turned out O.K later, all seemed well.
I suppose it warmed you up to
be so warmly welcomed home. I knew all the
folks would be glad to see you again and now you
have got dug in at your favorite room, things should
progress along the right lines. First, I knew Tom
had really got home so it was nice to see him
again. I'm looking forward to having a jug
with him when I get down after not seeing him for
so long.
The allotment transfer seems to
be well in hand. It will be a change for that
to be settled expeditiously. So glad the Army
book was awaiting you on return as at least
that's something from me in the way of a Xmas gift
for you. Like you, I'm dying to get down and
hope I shall get a goodly reception. Present indications
are now that we shall leave here on Sat next, 26th
so if that's dinkum, expect me next Monday sometime.
Also, I get out of Royce Park with the pass.

Xmas dinner here bids fair to be a mighty bout of
feasting so the trip next day to Sydney won't be
so hot maybe but thats by the way. Glad not to
be spending the big day in the train.
Had leave yesterday. first time
since you left and did a very wee bit of shopping,
called on that chap Shuky I've been after for
months, had afternoon tea thence to the Wintergarden
to see "New Wine". Back to camp after a hectic day.
The weather here is awful, the
last few days. Oceans of heavy rain and in
between falls, sultry and gusty. About the worst
its been here so you just got out in time.
Well, my precious bundle, thank
everyone for their kind kind regards and shall
toddle off now for a pint of grog. After the
personal contact, writing seems so inadequate now,
doesn't it? See you soon Mrs B, until then,
all my love to Richard & his bonny ma
and have a good time on the 25th but watch
mind you don't get a tummy ache. All the best
to all the folks.
Sweet Dreams,
Micky
