Darling,
Well, what a chump, I am, walking off with
your ticket after seeing you bawling off in the train.
I only hope everything turned out O.K but am
worried about your feelings when you couldn't find it.
You had only gone a few minutes when I discovered
it and I went straight to the Stationmaster who
wired ahead that you were a bona fide passenger.
He handed the ticket to the conductor of the second
division to hand in at Sydney with your priority permit.
The S.M. told me to wire you at South Grafton
which I did straight away so if that reached you O.K
you would be somewhat soothed. The S.M told me
you would not be inconvenienced after his wire
went off so I was very relieved to hear that.
I'm terribly Sorry, Sweet, to throw a spanner in the
works of a Satisfactory journey but your leaving made
me preoccupied about tickets and things so I just
forgot to give it to you back. I'll be glad to hear
from you to hea See how it panned out, I'm
holding my breath really. I didn't tell anyone up
here what a damn fool I was as my
consternation Seemed Sufficient for me without
advertising what a goat of a husband, you have.
A damn nuisance for you, pet after such a great
time to fall for a hitch like that.
2/
After your departure and my frantic
wirings, I tottered into a mean pub for a reviver and
took tram back to East. Popped in at Rawlings for
lunch as arranged but the meal was more subdued
than usual as you may well imagine. Anon, back to
camp and have spent the afternoon so far just
pottering about. Time is just 4 o'clock, the day wears
on slowly so shall relieve the tedium of by going into
town to the pictures after mess. After having our sort
of routine home - life, I guess the next few days will be
those of painful readjustment. Anyhow, the prospect of
Seeing you again shortly will help banish the lonely
feeling. So now you're back in the old home-town,
order the fatted calf or something.
Well, darling, as its only a few hours
since I saw you there ain't no news to share
trot off and have a rummage in early preparation
for my visit. I do so hope you completed your
journey feeling good - oh despite the lack of co-operation
of your husband Here’s expecting an early
letter reporting everything turned out fine. Cheerio,
bundle and permit accept all my love
for Richard and his sweet mother. All
the best to the folks.
Yours always
Micky
