Darling Kay,
Just another brief
note which I hope will not be
too long reaching you but will
serve to let you know
I’m very well and looking forward
immensely to getting a letter
from you. After such a time I
know there will be a host of
things I shall be delighted to
know but I suppose I shall
have to contain my impatience
a while longer. I had hoped
to be in a position by this
to enjoy correspondence from you
but one of two unexpected
happenings have thwarted the
best laid plans as often occurs

IN YOUR LETTER DO NOT REFER TO:
The name of your transport, or other transports in your convoy . . . dates of sailing .  . ports of call . . .
destination, descriptions of troops, or other information which, if intercepted, will be of value to the enemy.

2/
Anyway, sweet, I trust this finds
you in the best of health
and spirits and not allowing
the dearth of letters to
oppress you unduly. It's a bad
show at a time like this
but I know you will carry on
in the fashion for which you
are now famous. It's a pity
I can't lift the veil of secrecy
but you know how it is with
the demon security. So as a
news bulletin this is a
frost but when conditions
are more settled I'll tell
you everything I'm permitted.
See, it will be corker when

3/
your accumulated sheaf of letters
overtake me and one can
look forward to getting
more regularly. I think
there will be a few things
I shall want you to send
me but will see how things
work out first.
Cheerio dearest
for a while and take
great care of Richard and
yourself. As well I
send you scads of love
and kisses. Please ring
Mum when you get this. I'll
write to her later. Ta. Ta.
Micky

Darling Mum.
Well. Sweetheart. here's your
old man back in the service again
and about as thrilled as a bankrupt.
Thanks to frequent toddies, the trip
back was not so blue but now in the
cold sober light of the morn, the rot
is setting in but the boys tell me I'll
bloom again in a week's time but I
dunno.  When I crawled on to my
strawbag last night I felt so lonely.
Well I must stop whinging but you'll
gain the impression that I'm missing
you a whole heap.  The prospect of
seeing you soon relieves it to some extent.
How are you, my peach. A bit the same
way, I guess.  Gee, as you trotted along the
platform, I loved you ever so hard.
I shall live again that glorious week

2/
many times.  Now I'm settling down to
await news of what you're doing and thinking
how you are and all sorts of things.  I
sent you a wire from Albury but the P.O
was shut when we arrived at Sydney and
we left there after an hour.  I'm enclosing
a couple of telegrams I forgot to give you
back.  I saw our pay chap this morning
and fixed up the allotment.  It will be a
few weeks before its payable so if you change
your address, whizz me the new one so there
will not by any unnecessary delay or better
still if you hit Sydney, transfer your bank
account to the Sydney office and have it
paid in direct to your account.  The amount
you should get each fortnight is £4.18, 3/6 per
day from me & 3/6 from the Govt otherwise
everything seems to be under control.  Did
I ask you to slip Syd Ridge 10/. for the
beer he brought to the train, I clean forgot
and be firm, he's not to refuse.  I had enough
of my guests refusing to be my guests.

3/
I don't intend to write at any length
this time as things are a bit chaotic
so will close now, my sweetheart but
only for a while.  Look after yourself
precious and be happy.  I know I am
and how.  So bye-bye for the present
and think of hubby often.  Love to
Mother (the Clarke one), Ada and all
the others.  I love you, well, you know
how much.  Accept a big big kiss.
Dad.
PS Sending you a few snaps from
Adelaide that arrived while I
was away.
