Wednesday: 12..
Dear Old Smithy,
Got your letter last night, awfully
sorry you haven't heard from me yet but have written
quite frequently, so they will most likely all turn up
in a bunch which will be an very uninteresting as there
is nothing as in any of them.
However give Flippie my love & good wishes for the future.
your description is most apt.?; what on earth does
young Fitzee mean by getting engaged; isn't she
finishing her training, the silly young ass. Anyway
tell her I will write to her soon; but better not
(repeat the first part:)
Very little news at the moment, so you aren't
the only one who has nothing to write about;
so don't develop into a growling old female, because
I might, and it would be nasty both complaining
You don't know how your letters are appreciated

practicaly worn out; Any how we are saving up all
our letters. So when we don't get any to mail, we
can still produce a letter to read even if it is
several weeks old; but there is often something one
misses the first time.
Tell Brody I saw a nice little elephant that I intend
to purchase for her, some time
Sorry May Brown has been sick (the funny little runt)
when on earth is she going home.
Hope the Censors lets Archdeacon's letter through to
me; Can't think what the poor old bird will write
about; anyhow its jolly decent of him to think of
writing:
The last few nights we have been playing at black
outs & air raids ect. (most inconvenient). one hears
the signal, you leap for thel steel helmet & respirator,
turn out light close the window, & stay in that
condition until the all clear signal is sounded.
but it's all good practise & relieves the monotony.
Must go & feed the face. as its nearly breakfast
time.
Sorry I didn't finish this last night, but as there wasn't any

thing else to add; and still isnt:
Tell Matron I will write to her some time in the near
future, how is she these days:

P.B garden must be beautiful sorry I missed it.

talking of flowers, they grow lovely hybiscus. and frangepani

here and bouganvillea, but things like roses you never

see; and things like marigolds aren't anything like the

size we have:

Tell Mrs Bolton if you see her anytime that still good

have good intentions of writing to her and frequently think

of her; anyhow I have written to Old Sharpy.

Enough of this rot; hope I haven't bored you

Cheerio to all the tripe hounds.

Love Buddy
LJames

Dear Old Smithy,

Had a very good week as have had

some mail of some description every day. I got six

"Suns" from you, various "Women's Weekly's" & "Bulletins" from

home, a letter from Sharpy. And young Angie, not to

mention five from you & her the family, even my

tennis racquet has arrived and in good condition, but

as the rainy season has started most likely won't have

much opportunity of using it much

Went out to the Swimming pool on Sunday afternoon &

thoroughly enjoyed it, (think it was Saturday not Sunday

the memory is failing) Also can just about swim overarm

properly now, by the time I get home; will be just the juicy onion

As for you saying Allan has put on weight, so have

I nearly ten stone, am ashamed to admitt it, the only

thing that is worrying me is the fact the uniforms will

fit a bit snugly.

.2.

Sorry Errol fell on the ramp my only regret it wasn't

harder, anyway he should be used of sitting down, as seems

to spend most of the time at it (cease being Catty).

Fairly busy last week but am thoroughly  enjoying the

work at the moment; Although the last few days have

been beastly hot, but is comparatively cool owing to the

rain; but quite often long for a really nice cold day; or

even a clear heat, I don't wonder T.B is pretty frequent

in this climate.

We Two of us went for a walk in the rain this afternoon

quite pleasant as you know how I loathe being cooped up

inside all day; with out any really vigorous exercise

The Chinese graves are most pictureques being semi circular

cement about 30 feet in diameter usually built on a

hillside with actual tomb in the center, but they resemble

a large seat to look at, they don't have any flowers

or mushrooms, so don't suppose you would find them

attractive; Then of course there are others with just the ordinary

stone jabbed in each end of the ground to show were the

corpse lies. (suppose you think I am growing morbid, but

am not really), what amuses me is the way they build

houses just about in the middle of the Cemetreys or just beside them

.3.

How is Old Naughtys, fin hope her fingers are better, because

the poor kid hasn't had much theatre experience has she

Anyway as long as she knows her other work she should be

alright. & use her common sense; for the rest, when does she

sit for her final.

Am reading the "Autiobiography of a Cad" at the moment it

isn't quite as good as "England there England," Although awfully

clever in its way:

By the way do you think some time when you are

down the street could you call at "Holts" or Anbie & get me

a pair of "niblicks" size 5½ or 6. I will get Mum to send

you the money for them, as they are pretty hard to get here

in fact I haven't seen any, Am sick of having corns from

wearing these beastly things.

No more news old hound will finish this tomorrow.

Love Bud.

Not much more news today, were comparatively busy in the theatre

but mostly small jobs. Just been for a nice walk so am

feeling at peace with all the world at the moment.

Tell Brody I haven't found a suitable donor for the kick

in the pants but return it with thanks. also have procured

her a small elephant to add to her collection.

4.

Give my love to Matron & tell her I hope to get

sufficient mental intelligence we to write her a

really interesting letter next week but not to bother

to answer it as I know she is always busy

Regards to the Doctors; you might tell Dr Fairly

that I have co cultivated an awfully respectful

manner. (terrific strain).

Love to all the tripe hounds &

wish they were all here.

Cheerio old hound.

Bud.

Love & kisses to Mau Morris.

Dear Old Smithy,

Haven't heard from you for ages, so suppose your

letters have missed a mail or something like that.

Well the last week haven't done anything except played

tennis on Saturday afternoon and got the second lowest

score; but thoroughly enjoyed it as they have very nice grass

courts at the club. Been for various swims which of course

is very pleasant but on the whole have been quite busy.

but its much better than not having enough to do.

Will finish this after mess as the brain isn't very active

at the moment & no doubt a little nourishment  will

helf help.

Well the nourishment hasn't assisted very much; beyond

feeling extremely hot & contented; Am sure I must have B.O. these

days as am consistently wet, (not only my nose); but will most

likely be in that condition for the duration, so will be pretty

fruity next time you see me.

.2.

Went to a troops concert the other night, Doug Pearl was

one of the artists. Gosh he has a lovely voice, you might tell

Dr Fairly he looks extremely well; not as though I was close

enough to see him all details.

Hope you can read my writing as the censor informs me she hasn't

been able to yet. so if you get frantic appeals from Mrs Nicky

you will know she has received an unreadable letter from me.

Had intentions of writing to Matron this week but there

really isn't anything to tell her at present.

Schuey, who has been rooming with me for the last few

months has been moved to another hospital, not very far

from here, but won't have much opportunity of seeing her

and at the moment feel rather lonely, as we were just getting

used to each other; And had been going for nice walks together

(good for the figure).

The mosquitos are very forward tonight they usually leave

me alone, but tonight they are extremely playful & fierce

fortunately they are quite harmless but inclined to make one

restive.

Think I had better finish this tomorrow old hound, & study

a little malayan; to improve the intelligence.

Sweet dreams. Just considering writing to Charlie.

3

Tuesday: Got a very minimal 4 letters today. One from

Mrs Nicky (can't quite make out whether Ian has left or not)

a long letter from Aunt Evie & one from Mum & Jean

but so far haven't heard from you so hope you aren't

sick or eloped or anything like that

Went into town this afternoon, but didn't see anything

worth buying looking at some cotton material for an evening

dress just in case I manage to get leave.

We start drill in the morning so have to arise a trifle

earlier, but it should be good for the figure; fortunately this

effort only happens once a week.

Do you hear from Allan these days or not expect your

mother worries about him give her my love or kindest

regards might sound better.

How is Lesley has she been operated on yet or not.

Wrote to Fluff by surface mail about a fortnight

ago so don't suppose she will get it for some time

Cheerio Hound. Sorry this is such a nothing

letter but will endeavour to be more interesting

next time.

Love to all the tripe hounds.

is Sister Donald back yet: Buddy
