Showery windy & dusty
weather continued,
JANVIER
7 DIMANCHE
Today we took a run in
the train near to [[El?]]
see the engineers lay a
railway sideing trained it
back to [[Mazar?]], got some
tucker at the canteen and
walked back to [[Mustabeg?]]
we were in bed before
the train arrived
8 LUNDI
Received comfort
fund parcel tonigh
from RFC funds
contents.
1 pot tooth paste,
1 shaving soap, 1 cake soap
shaving brush, tooth brush
hanky, laces matches chocolate
sweets, shav paper, envelopes.

9 MARDI
Today we returned
to Kantara, had
clothing issued and
was paid.
JANVIER
11 JEUDI
Today a lot of us were
on leave to get any
remaining Kits or Business
12 VENDREDI
All Kits were stacked in
Hangar before 12 A.M. today
and all the tents to Huts
struck and cleaned up.
We moved out at 6 PM.
Trained it to Alexandria
It was getting well on
in the morning when
we got there.
JANVIER
13 SAMEDI
We found our way to
an E.£ Canteen and got
plenty of scrum, boarded
the boat at 1 o'clock
Kingsonian
pulled out at 2 PM.
first of all, we were all
donned with Life Belts.
14 DIMANCHE
We had two Ministers
of the Gospel on board
but there was no church
service, they were evidently
like the Troops too
sea sick, I was on
Guard and properly sick
besides it.

15 LUNDI
We had an Escort
which came out
just in front of us
and after we were
out of the Bay A
worked first on
one side then on
the other crossing
in front of us
JANVIER
17 MERCREDI
We pulled into
Harbour at Malta
at about 11 o'clock
Today could not go in
till the place was swept
free of mines -
18 JEUDI
Today we were building
up hopes of getting leave
to go ashore, but were
not fruitful only officers
being allowed this privilege
JANVIER
19 VENDREDI
our hopes of
getting a glimpse on
land of Malta were
not yet altogether
abandoned and we kept
chipping for leave feeling
justified in so doing
while lying in porte.
A sports Commite was
arranged with a brilliant
showing future, till the Sergts
went on leave to purchase
the required presents without first
consulting the commitie, so they
withdrew and all went smash
again we started a hue & cry
20 Saturday
for going ashore and at 2 PM
we were formed up and taken
for a route march
JANVIER
21 DIMANCHE
we had about 3 hours
on shore C.O and all and
returned to the vessel
much contented, The Maltese
are a fine class, the women
are quite beautiful, all seem to
dress in the same headgear
21 Sunday
Today we has Service in
the morning
We sailed at 4 pM. Today.
22 LUNDI
At about 6 o'clock this
morning, we sighted
the coast of Sicily and passed
the straits of (Misena)
we see the snow topped
mts of Itall and
passed the Stromboli volcano
showing steam coming
out.

23 MARDI
Today was windy
wet & squally.
24 MERCREDI
We entered Harbour
at Marselles tonight

25 JEUDI
About sixty of the AFC
Broke leave tonight,
and an extra gard
was put on.
26 VENDREDI
Those who broke leave are
were fined 28 days pay.
about noon we left
the ship for the
Train and left by
it at 2.30 P.M.
The place is hilly in
many parts and the
line tunnelled a lot.

27 SAMEDI
We had no rasions issued
when x leaving
and our two meals on the boat
were of a half days break
it was about 1.30 (AM) o'clock
This morning when
we receiv^ed a cup of
tea and half a biscuit
at 1 one P.M, we had another
issue of Bully & 3 Biscuits,
another of cheese & Biscuits
at 9.30 PM -
28 DIMANCHE
we slept in a huddled
up of ashore, being 8 in
a compartment, we were
ordered not to go purchasing
at the Buffet, later on
we received a little
better rashons
we stopped at Havre
at 4AM.

29 LUNDI
[*29th*] slept till 6-30
marched off to
rest camp xxToday we cleared
2 lots of Biscuits
and Bully, Tea
also a cup of Coffee
from the old pl
five miles, had
dinner and tea

30 MARDI
There then left for
the boat again
it was about 11 PM
when we made our
[*30*] bed, I did not wake
till we were in Southampton
Harbour left it
about one oclock
JANVIER31 MERCREDI
Got on train and went
to London ( ) changed
trains and took the
Piccadilly underground
Elec train, after two of these
we took the train to
Grantham 11 PM waited there
till the later train brought
our Kits. Then we camped
till 7AM
(31) we marched went in lorries to the
aero camp, Had breakfast
allotted to tents Huts,
and issued with beds 4 Blankets

Today we went to
Spittle Gate and
pulled down an

Today we went
to the 6 reserve Sqd
for instructions.
