Today at 12, the YM. commissioner
in Palestine, picked me
up in his car & took us
up to Jerusalem, I am on
leave for 4 days, we called
at 7 A.C.H. - where Mr Pickering
shouted us to a drink,
we arrived at about 5 in
Jerusalem where firstly I had
a swim in the Y.M
swimming pool.
then on to British Y.M.
where I am staying, after
tea went out for a stroll
finally decided to go to
pictures, arrived there
& went in with a British
F.S.S. chap, then afterwards
supping together at
the B.Y.M.
together, being interested
in his work I gave him
some information to
his advantage & the services
proving so important
that he was given
24 hours extension in
Jerusalem.
Sun morning we went on
a tour to the old city
calling firstly at
Solomons quarries, a vast
underground cavern
where one could easily
get lost so vast it is.
then on to the Mosque
of Omar a most wonderful
piece of architecture
considering the little
knowledge the people
of those days had, arabian,
built over the site of
Solomons temple & once
a crusader church -
then the wailing wall,
church of St Anne
Ecco Hommo
Mon morning I visited
the garden tomb or
Gordons calvary, the one
place of Christs burial.

Today, paid a visit to Safad
via Tiberias, a most
lovely spot, dominating
the whole countryside,
one can see for miles.
with the sea of Galilee
nestling down below, a
beautiful picture!
On the return journey, we
stopped at a wonderful
little place called ?
a place where the late
King Leopold before his death,
stayed, rockeries,
little paths running
along & past gums &
bushes, & a good place
for swimming, a most
charming spot indeed
& one of the prettiest
on the lakeside,
reached here about
just on 7, a 9 hour trip.
altogether a lovely time.
with Miss Hernot,
& Miss Dyer. 2
missionaries here.
