My Darling Rene.,
Received your most welcome
letter on Tuesday, very pleased to hear that
you & all at home are OK & in the best
of health.
Nothing startling is happening
here since I last wrote, so dont know
what I'm going to put in this in the
way of news.
Have a game of football on next
Saturday, about 20 miles from here, it is
the first game against another unit up
to date, so there is a considerable amount
of interest in it, am afraid I wont be able
to make the side much as I would
like to afraid I'm too old although I
dont feel that way & I would like very
much to be in the side, but I've had
a fair go havent I.

We have as exercise on for 3 days next
week, going to the sea. side, only wish
that it was Port Phillip Bay may be
able to appreciate it a little more, although
it is a good break to get away from here
for a few days.
Am wondering if you have heard
anything of that friend of mine from over
here.
Picked up a fair load of Pineapples
on Wednesday, cost us 5 Dollars, about
15/-, reckoned that the load would
bring about £10 down below; though that
I may have been able to get a look at
the plantation, was disappointed, maybe
I'll have better luck next time; the first
time we went down one of the troops bought
a few bananas, they were about 14 inches
long & as thick as your wrist, cost 3 cents
each, equal to one penny.
The weather is still pretty hot & sticky
these days, seems to be quite a lot of
prickly heat & rash about, up to date I have
been pretty free of it.

Pleased to hear that you received
that few snaps O.K. Pa would be interested
in the Railway one. Was rather
surprised that you received that paper
I sent, as I thought it had been thrown
out long ago. Havnt yet been able to
get a few snaps of myself you are rather
lost without a camera of your own.
Heard that there was another crowd
of troops from home over here, but dont know
who they are, quite on the cards that
its some of Keith's Bn mob, wonder if Ill
ever strike him.
Yes, a few of our chaps get down in
Singapore on leave I would like a few days
to go up country to a cousin of Robbies,
but it appears you have to go to Singapore
or stay home, & the latter would be a bit
hard on the pocket.
Love, you are not the only one hoping
that I'll be home for next Anzac Day, afraid
all I live for is to get back to you again.
Most of the troops have been busy sending
cables for Mothers Day. I'm not eligible am

Healsville or Belgrave, would be hard to
take wouldnt it Darling.
Should imagine that there wouldnt
be very much interest in the football
down home this year, saw the results
of the first match & thought that there
were a few surprises.
Well sweetheart I cant find any
news to tell you for the present so I'd
better close up, & I do love you & miss
you every bit as much as you say you
do me
"Cheerio"
With all my Love & Kisses
Frank xxxxxxxx
Regards to Ma Pa & Mabel.
